Magnificent Atmosphere at Launch of Smart Store Cooking

Blessed with glorious weather the large attendance enjoyed a supremely enjoyable afternoon outdoors at O’Keeffe’s Supervalu, Minor Row, Millstreet at the official launch of Smart Store Cooking.  Chairman of Millstreet Tidy Towns Association, Derry Sheehan addressed the large crowd and called upon Eily Buckley to cut the launch ribbon.   Most impressive stalls, lots of delicious food, face painting, music and the Animal Road Show all helped to make the occasion such a wonderful success.   Key Coordinators Joe Fitzgerald and Áine Murphy of Supervalu plus Stephen O’Sullivan of CCC together with members of Millstreet TTA ensured a great occasion where we were delighted to help with the Live Facebook transmission worldwide.   This may be viewed on the Facebook of Millstreet Tidy Town.   Here we share the first of our selections of images from the very memorable and important occasion.   Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.) Today: Smart Store Cooking

This afternoon, Millstreet Tidy Town are hosting the launch of Smart Store Cooking, a new project enabling people to plan, shop and cook more efficiently, saving on time, while being cheaper on the pocket at the till, cheaper on the pocket for bin collection, and better for the environment by reducing food waste.

This project is hugely important and is at its core part of the sustainability project that will reduce landfill and help in reduction of waste. It is the first of its kind in the country and is being funded by the Anti Dumping initiative 2018. We would very much appreciate if you attend this event. It would be great opportunity for us to showcase how this will work and hopefully you might pick up a few tips.
Smart Store Cooking, Thursday 21st June 3 to 5pm @ O’Keeffe’s Supervalu Millstreet, Minor Row, Millstreet, where there will be a Cooking Demo, entertainment for the kids, and Country Clean will be on site to Demo how to compost and recycle correctly.

Fr. Paddy O’Byrne’s Annual Mass in Tubrid Plus Picnic This Year

On Tuesday, 19th June 2018 Fr. Paddy O’Byrne celebrated his annual Mass at Tubrid marking the anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood in 1960.  People travelled from afar for this special Mass such as Fr. Paddy’s brother Kevin from Skibbereen, his brother Billy from Co. Wicklow and his sister Marie from Kanturk as well as many others such as the son of James O’Sullivan – Matthew who had just arrived back from Thailand.  Patricia Guerin, Breda Fitzgerald and James O’Sullivan added a new dimension this year – a picnic after the Mass creating such an uplifting atmosphere.  Fr. Paddy in his superb homily recalled many wonderful memories and hoped that Our Lady would bring everyone back again for the 2019 occasion in Tubrid.  Here we share a selection of images (11) from the splendid evening.  Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.) Cycling on the Footpaths

We have been asked to please make people aware, and especially younger kids that it is very dangerous to cycle on the narrow footpaths in town . One lady who contacted us has been hit once coming out a shop door, and two older customers had near misses and could have been badly hurt.

It is actually an offence to cycle on a footpath unless you are entering or exiting a property, and it comes with an on the spot €40 fine.  However, Cycling Ireland state that “if the roads are dangerous and narrow, we would prefer to see children cycling on footpaths than not cycling at all,”…  so just be careful please.
