Wonderfully Successful Schools’ Sports 2025

Blessed with magnificent weather the Annual School Sports took place at Millstreet Town Park on Monday, 16th June 2025 with many schools enthusiastically participating.   Several medals were won by very talented athletes in all the schools.   The highest score went to Presentation N.S., Millstreet and the prestigious Cup was presented to the winning school.  Judging by the superb atmosphere throughout the various races and different age groups … all the schools had the winning feeling participating in such a cheerful and energetic manner.   Here we focus on the aftermath of the exciting day demonstrating the tremendous dedication of the splendid Volunteers who coordinate the hugely enjoyable event in such a professional manner.  We also meet the many successful participants with their medals from Scoil Mhuire, Millstreet BNS.  Tap on the sixteen images to enlarge.  (S.R.) Marking his 65 years of priestly ministry since 19th June 1960, Fr. Paddy O’Byrne will celebrate Mass at Tubrid Holy Well this Thursday, 19th June 2025 at 8pm.  Everyone is very welcome.   We congratulate Fr. Paddy on such a magnificent milestone following 65 years of wonderfully dedicated service to the Church not only here in Ireland but also in Nebraska, USA and beyond.  (S.R.)

Hayes (Dromagh); On June 12th 2025 peacefully at home in Dysert, Mary Abina (neé O’Leary, Dromlee, Macroom), beloved wife of the late Tony and loving mother of Louisa, John, Maurice, Thelma and the late Timmy and Marguerite, dear sister of Elizabeth, Christina and the late Peggy. Deeply regretted by her loving family, grandchildren, Shauna, Caoimhe, Saoirse, Colin, Kayla, Olivia, Pippa and Ruby, sons-in-law Denis and Tom, daughter-in-law Bernie, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

May she rest in peace

Reposing at McCarthy’s Funeral Home, Banteer (P51 N922) on Sunday June 15th from 6pm to 7.30pm. Reception into St John’s Church, Dromagh (P51 W983) on Monday June 16th for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St Fursey’s Cemetery, Banteer.

The death has occurred of Robert (Bob) McConnell, Knocklyon, Dublin.

Robert (Bob) McConnell – Late of Knocklyon, Dublin 16. June 11th, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his loving wife Ann and family.

Beloved husband and best friend of Ann and much-loved brother of Barbara, June and Billy. Bob will be very sadly missed and forever remembered by his loving wife, sisters, brother, sisters-in-law Pat, Jan and Meg, brother-in-law John, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

May he Rest in Peace.

The death has occurred of Bernie O’Rahilly (née Murphy),  Kilmacrane, Banteer, Co. Cork.

O’Rahilly; (Banteer). The death has occurred of Bernie O’Rahilly (née Murphy), Kilmacrane, Banteer on June 3rd 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Sadly missed by her husband Dave, daughters Laura and Tina, and son David, sons-in-law Anthony (Bourke) and Paudie (Bourke), daughter-in-law Martina (Collins) and her beloved grandchildren Eoghan, Eve, Emma, Oliver and Ella, her brother, sisters, uncle, sisters-in-law and extended family and friends.

us at this difficult time and to all who travelled long distances to be with us to share in
our grief. To all who brought food to our home, sent cards, letters, floral tributes and

Collins (Kanturk); On June 5th 2025, peacefully in the excellent care of the nurses, doctors and staff of Cork University Hospital and Marymount University Hospital and Hospice. Joan (retired nurse), Dromcummer, (née Morley, Cullen) beloved wife of Daithí and dear mother of Aisling and Tadhg and much loved grandmother of Ciara, Fiadh, Sadie and Ruadh and sister of the late Nuala. Deeply regretted by her loving family, daughter-in-law Emer, brothers Dan and Derry, sisters Nora-Mary, Kathleen and Maureen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and a large circle of friends.

On the First Anniversary of Willie’s passing, Margaret and family would like to express sincere gratitude to friends and neighbours and all those who offered sympathy and sent Mass cards. A special thanks to our neighbours who stood outside as Willie left his home for the last time. We would like to thank Canon John Fitzgerald for celebrating the Funeral Mass, Sharon Lane, and Julie Brady for all their help and Jerry Doody and organist for the music in the church and at the graveyard. Thanks also to Davy Tarrant, Cora O’Riordan and Declan Brady for their kindness and professionalism throughout.

A special thanks to the staff at Millstreet Community Hospital who cared for Willie in the last year of his life and before that to Jim, Nadeem and Eileen for the care he received at home. Thank you also to the past and present members of Millstreet Fire Brigade who provided a guard of honour at the Funeral Mass.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as an expression of our deepest gratitude. “Land Rover” Key Found This Evening in Park Car Park – Key Collected by Owner

UPDATE:  A very grateful Owner of the Key arrived this morning to collect the Key having spent quite some time searching before becoming aware of our Millstreet Website notice!   And the electronic Key works perfectly despite the fact that it had fallen on the ground before found.   A happy result …. Renewed thanks to the Couple who found the Key. (S.R.)
