Intergenerational Coffee Morning 

Millstreet Community School TY Global Citizenship Education class are hosting an intergenerational coffee morning on Monday 9th March 2026.  It will take place in Millstreet Parish Centre between 10.30am – 12.00pm. All active retired ladies and gents are warmly invited for tea, coffee, home-made buns and a chance to chat with the young people about how ‘life was then and how things are now’.  It will be a time to reflect on what younger and older generations have in common and how things have changed.

Mary O’Keeffe, Curraraigue, Rathcoole & Dun Laoghaire

The death has occurred of Mary O’Keeffe, Curraraigue, Rathcoole, Co. Cork / Dun Laoghaire, Dublin.

O’Keeffe, Rathcoole and Dun Laoghaire; On February 28th 2026, unexpectedly but peacefully at home, Mary, Woodlawn Park, Dun Laoghaire, late of Bank of Ireland, and formerly of Curraraigue, Rathcoole, beloved daughter of the late Jerome and Bridie, and sister-in-law of the late Sharon, dear sister of Úna (Hernon), Bridgette (Walsh), Dan Joe, Timmy, Jeremiah and Michael John.

Deeply regretted by her loving family, sisters-in-law Margaret and Kate, brothers-in-law Liam and Gerard, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives, neighbours, many friends and in particular her life long friend Rashid.

May she rest in peace

A very impressive crane on location at Green Glens Arena, Millstreet which is presently being reroofed.
A second impressive crane was recently in place at O’Regan’s Mill, Millstreet for the reroofing of this very well known building in Station Road.
Recording for Cork Music Station in the wonderfully welcoming Colmanswell Rambling House Centre – a host of superbly talented musicians, singers and storytellers who had been assembled (for our recording) by Jimmy Reidy and Pat Brown. The Co. Limerick location is close to Charleville. The radio broadcasts will transmit at 9.30pm on Tuesday, 10th March and at the same time on following Tuesdays with Friday repeats on Cork Music Station.

The death has occurred of Desmond (Des) Sweeney, Ayrfield, Dublin / Cabra, Dublin.

Sweeney, Desmond (Des) – 28th February 2026, (Ayrfield and formerly of Cabra).

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of staff at TLC Carton House.

Beloved husband of Helen and loving father of Paul, much loved grandad of Orlagh, Liam and Caoimhe.

Desmond will be very sadly missed by his wife, son and daughter-in-law Catherine, grandchildren, sister Nora, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Jennings Funeral Home, Oscar Traynor Road Coolock, D17FK58 on Wednesday afternoon March 4th from 3pm to 5pm.

Removal on Thursday morning to the Church of St Brendan, Coolock Village, D05Y316 arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by cremation service in Glasnevin Crematorium.

Betty (Beth) Goggin, Bolomore, Rathcoole

The death has occurred of Betty (Beth) Goggin, Bolomore, Rathcoole, Co. Cork.

Peacefully on February 28th in Marymount Hospice after a short illness bravely borne, Betty (Beth); Pre-deceased by her sister Hannah-Marie (Hinchion) and brother Seán Goggin. Beth will be fondly remembered by her sisters Maura (O’Brien), Teresa (Gully), Nonie (Smart), Eileen (Garlick) and Sr Josephine.

Deeply regretted by her family, her sister in law Maureen, brother in law Ray, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, great grand-nephews and great grand-nieces, cousins, relatives, very kind neighbours and many friends.

May she rest in peace

Wallet Found in Millstreet

A Wallet with its contents including cards has recently been found in the Murphy’s Terrace area of Millstreet.  It has been delivered to the postbox of Millstreet Garda Station.

Walking Poles Found

A pair of walking poles beside the footpath on Clara Road, Millstreet were recently found.   The Finder put them on the nearby wall but when checked the following day they were still there so the Finder brought them home for safe keeping.   The Owner of the walking poles may contact 086 825 0074 and we shall arrange to put you in touch with the Finder.  (S.R.)

Ann Barry, Lackabawn, Millstreet, Co. Cork who died on the 3rd March 2025

On Ann’s first anniversary, her family would like to express sincere gratitude and to thank everyone who sympathised with us, attended the funeral, sent Mass cards, posted online condolences and those who stood to pay their respect as Ann’s remains travelled to the Church and to St. Mary’s Cemetery.

We wish to express our gratitude to all at Tarrant’s Undertakers for their advice, kindness, professionalism and support.

A special thank you to Canon John Fitzgerald for celebrating Ann’s funeral Mass, to Sharon and Julie for their help and assistance.

Thank you to Maureen Flynn for her beautiful singing and to all who helped and participated in the Funeral Mass and Burial.

To the Ambulance service for their swift attendance and staff at Cork University Hospital, thank you for taking such care of Ann.

We wish to thank and acknowledge the kindness of the wonderful neighbours and friends of Ann and the Barry family who visited from near and far both during the funeral and the weeks and months that followed.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions. Please accept this acknowledgment as an expression of our deepest appreciation. 

The First Anniversary Mass will be held in St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet on Sunday 1st March 2026 at 11.30am.

Julia Lynch (née Casey),  Sunnyhill, Killarney & Ballydaly, Millstreet

The death has occurred of Julia Lynch (née Casey),  Sunnyhill, Killarney, Co. Kerry / Millstreet, Co. Cork.

Late of Sunnyhill, Killarney, Co. Kerry and formerly of Ballydaly and Meelin, Co. Cork.

Julia died peacefully on Tuesday the 24th of February 2026, at home after a short illness in the devoted care of her loving family.  Predeceased by her loving husband Donal, her sister Belle and her nephew Barry.  Beloved mother of Kevin, daughter-in-law Gill and granddaughter Riley.

Dearly loved and deeply missed by her brothers and sisters, Owen, Davy, Connie Mike, Marian, Eileen and Josephine, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews relatives, neighbours and her wide circle of friends.

“May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace”

Julia will repose at O’Shea’s Funeral Home, Killarney, on Thursday the 26th of February from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Burial will take place afterwards in Killarney Cemetery.

Each of the Visitors receives a special copy of the official Proclamation.
On our return to Heuston Station we pass through the Grounds of Trinity College….Phil and Mary.
