Harry’s Truly Inspirational Marathon 2023 Achievement

Harry Linehan recently participated in the Dublin City Marathon with a truly fantastic finishing time considering that it was his first ever Marathon. Harry competed for CUH charity to honour his dad and raise funds for the oncology services at CUH. Harry is now a student nurse in UCC &  CUH following in his dad’s footsteps. “It was a very emotional day for us all in Dublin and Harry’s fundraiser has now hit €5,177.00 which is absolutely amazing” writes Harry’s mother, Gillian. One may still contribute to this highly praiseworthy Fundraising Project by tapping on the link HERE which will take you to the official Fundraising Page.  Harry is absolutely thrilled with himself having completed the marathon and more importantly been able to fundraise for such a worthy service that offered John such great care during his illness.   Sincere congratulations to Harry on such a supremely inspiring achievement.  Tap on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Enthusiastically Supporting Darragh in the Final

On Wednesday, 15th Feb. 2023 at 4pm a Coach left Millstreet for Waterford in support of Darragh Cashman who is a member of the UL (University of Limerick) Team which had reached the Final against UCC in the prestigious 24th Sigerson Cup Match at the WIT Sports Campus.   Among the enthusiastic group who travelled to Waterford were Darragh’s parents and family.   Weather conditions were hugely challenging as witnessed in the TG4 Live Television coverage and as described in newspapers such as “The Irish Times” which mentioned the driving rain and howling wind and extra time where Darragh played a pivotal role as described: “A topsy-turvy encounter swung back in UCC’s favour as they regained the lead late on before Darragh Cashman’s 65th-minute equaliser for UL which forced extra-time, 0-15 to 1-12.  Cashman wore number 35 on his back and thwarted UCC’s number 35, Michael O’Gara, who suspected he may have won it for the Cork side a couple of minutes earlier.”  See full “Irish Times” Report HERE.

We thank Gillian O’Sullivan-Linehan for very kindly making available the following superb images which truly illustrate how the enthusiastic Supporters braved the challenging weather conditions to witness Darragh’s magnificent game.   Although UCC were victorious with a three point margin in the end, Darragh and his Team Members must take a huge bow for such a remarkable performance and for almost winning the Sigerson Cup.   Tap on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)
