With just a few days left now to go to the Blackwater Valley Vintage Group Vintage/Classic Car Run happening on Easter Monday April 6th here are a few details on the Event.

✴️–Location for Registration/Start is Aubane Community Centre Eircode (P51 EP49)
from 10.30am Leaving at 12 Noon.

✴️–All Vintage/Classic Cars Bikes Vans etc etc are very Welcome.

✴️–Complimentary Tea/Coffee Scones/Cakes etc
to be enjoyed at Sign On.

✴️–Nice Starters Prize for all Entrants.

✴️–Free Draw for all Entrants with plenty Spot Prizes to be won and Blackwater Valley Vintage Group wish to thank Everybody who have donated Prizes for the Event.

✴️–La Vita Ice Cream Van will be in attendance at the start in Aubane.

✴️–There will be Easter Eggs/Treats for the Kids.

✴️–Mallow Search and Rescue will be bringing some of there Equipment to the start of the Event in Aubane and there Volunteers will be on hand to tell you more about what they do.

✴️–A really nice route of almost 50km of good tarmac surface in the North Cork countryside has been layed on for this Run which finishes back in Mallow at The Arches Bar and Restuaran

✴️There will be Music by Sheila Fitzgerald in the Arches at the Finish.

✴️–If you wish you can have a Meal to finish off the day at the finish in the Arches, details of Menu etc will be available at Registration.

✴️–Entry for the Event is by Donation.

✴️–If you don’t have a Vintage Classic Vehicle you are still very welcome to come along and see some nice Vehicles on the day and see what great work Mallow Search and Rescue do and you can join us for a cuppa and a chat as well.

The first Event of the Year for Blackwater Valley Vintage Group will kick off on next Sunday March 29th with a Vintage Tractor Run for Pre-1996 Models, Registration for the Event will be based out of Aubane Community Centre Eircode P51 EP49 with Sign On from 10.30am and Take Off at 12.30pm Refreshments,Tea/Coffee Scones etc will be Served at Registration. 

The Run will make its way over a scenic Route on to the finish in Healy`s Pub Kilcorney where we will finish off with more Food and Refreshments with Buger Sauages plus Salad etc available at €10 which can be redeemed by a Voucher purchased at Sign On,for more Details Call Jack Sheehan on 083-3736016.

As this is our first Event for 2026 like last year we will be using the Event for to cover our expenses like insurance etc for the year ahead and also from last years Event we donated to a couple of local Groups recently in the Millstreet Area namely the Knit and Natter Group who make cosey blankets clothes etc to benefit people who dont be well and are in Hospital care, while we also donated to Millstreet Museum and our local website millstreet.ie who do great work in promoting any happenings and events in the locality, again the plan is to help out a couple of more local groups/charities etc from our upcoming Tractor Run like we did in 2025,so your support on the day would be most welcome.🚜🚜🚜🚜

 

St Patricks Day Parade happening in Carriganima on next Sunday March 15th at 3pm

The Carriganima St Patricks Day Parade is happening on next Sunday March 15th,Kick Off for the Parade is 3pm, Millstreet Pipe Band will lead the way followed by Music in the Pub By The Left Hand Drive Band 4pm to 6pm with the Fantastic UP IN SMOKE on stage between 7pm and 9pm, as usual all Local Groups Clubs Schools etc are very welcome to join us for a bit of Fun,we are also doing a smaller Parade for the Kids starting from the Church and we encourage all of our Younger Generation to bring along there Toy Car Bike Go Kart etc and join in on the Fun too, for Details give Sean a Ring on 087 2600640, looking forward to seeing ye all on the Day.

Canon David Herlihy, Dromina & Newtownshandrum

The death has occurred of Canon David Herlihy,  Killabraher, Dromina, Co. Cork / Newtownshandrum, Co. Cork.

The death has occurred of Canon David Herlihy, Freemount, Co. Cork and formerly of Killabraher, Dromina, Co. Cork.

On the 26th of January 2026, peacefully after a short illness in the loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Mallow General Hospital.

Predeceased by his loving parents John and Ellen, his brothers Noel, Michael and his niece Joanne.

Canon David will be deeply missed by his brothers, John, Patrick, Kevin, Joseph and Donal, sisters Mary (Falvey) and Noreen (Sheedy), his beloved nephews and nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, Bishop William Crean, the priests of the Diocese of Cloyne and elsewhere, his many relatives and a large circle of friends.

Canon David gave generously of his life in service to God and to the communities he served, offering support, guidance and friendship to the people he served in the parishes of Mallow, Carriganima, Banteer, Kilcorney, Macroom, Cloyne, Meelin, Newmarket and Youghal. He held each parish close to his heart and was grateful for the faith, friendship and welcome he received throughout his priesthood.

May Canon David Rest in Peace.

Canon David will repose in O’Malley’s Funeral Home, Newline, Charleville (P56T184) on this Thursday evening January 29th from 5pm to 8pm followed by removal to St. Joseph’s Church, Newtownshandrum, Co. Cork. Requiem Mass on Friday at 1pm (Canon David’s Requiem Mass will be live streamed and can be viewing BY CLICKING HERE) followed by burial in Newtownshandrum New Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to Milford Care Centre.

As we remember Timothy(Tim) Twomey Brookpark,Kilcorney who died on January 12th 2025 on his First Anniversary.

We his family wish to thank everyone who sympathised and supported us over the past year. We thank those who attended the funeral, sent us mass cards, left condolences and called to our homes. We want to thank the emergency personnel for their help. We thank his great neighbours and friends who gave us great help and support during our difficult time.

Sincere thanks to Davy and all the staff at Tarrant’s Funeral Directors for all their help and professionalism. We thank Fr. Bennett who celebrated the mass, to Jerry Doody and Hanah Mary Tarrant who provided the wonderful music for the mass. We also want to express thanks for the use of Kilcorney Community Centre for after the funeral and to Food Capers Mallow for providing the refreshments there.

As it’s impossible to thank everyone individually, please take this acknowledgement as an expression of our thanks.

The holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

Final Reminder Notice from Aubane Community Alert Group that if you would like to Renew /Join up for the 2025/2026 Text Alert Service that the closing date for Applications is next Friday Nov 21st.

Renewal Fee is €10.

As has been the Case in the past number of  years the Group won’t be calling to Homes for renewal of Membership for 2025/2026 so instead you can put the €10 fee into an Envelope with your Name and Mobile Phone Number on it and place in the Post Box next to Noreen Kelleher’s House at Aubane Cross.

Kilcorney Craft Fair

The pupils in Kilcorney N.S. are set to go
this Sunday, 16th Nov
at Kilcorney Craft Fair.
The children have been extremely busy hand crafting
goods which will be for sale between 10.30am and 1.30pm
on the day with all proceeds going to Kilcorney N.S. Parents’ Association.
The school table is one of over 20 stalls who will be selling handmade goods on the day.

Dromtarriffe Vintage Club Tractor Run happening tomorrow Sunday October 5th

The final event of 2025 for Dromtarriffe Vintage Club is fast approaching.

The Club are holding a tractor run on this Sunday, 5th October, in aid of Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland.

There will also be a raffle held on the day.

Refreshments will be available before setting out on a scenic route. Gathering at Dromtarriffe GAA Grounds from 11 a.m. with the run beginning at 1 p.m.

We look forward to welcoming you all to our final run of 2025 in aid of a great charity based in Little Island, Co. Cork.

As we lovingly remember Mossie on his First Anniversary, his wife Mary, daughters Frances, Kay, Maria, Trish & extended family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who supported us in our loss.
We will be forever grateful to our kind neighbours, first responder, paramedics and staff of CUH for the kindness, care and attention shown to Mossie.
We sincerely thank all our relatives , neighbours & friends who shared our grief, visited our home, brought refreshments, attended the rosary, the removal & queued for a lengthy time in huge numbers, attended the funeral mass, burial, those who travelled long distances, phoned us in support, sent mass cards,letters, texts and online condolences. It gave us great comfort to know Mossie was thought of so fondly.
A special thank you to Fr. James McSweeney & V Rev Paul Bennett PP for the beautiful mass, Sacristan Margaret Browne, Siobhan Forde for her amazing voice and music, Eucharistic Ministers & all who participated in the funeral mass , those who prepared the grave, Kilcorney Development Association for providing the hall & Food Capets for providing the refreshments after the funeral.
We are especially grateful to Davy , Cora, Declan & all at Tarrant’s Undertakers for their guidance, respect, professionalism and compassion during those difficult days.

Blackwater Valley Vintage Group support Aubane Community Centre

Blackwater Valley Vintage Group made a Presentation to the Crew at Aubane Community Centre last Wednesday Evening at the Centre with a Cheque for €2,691.20 following the Groups recent Vintage Car and Vintage Tractor Run held on Sunday August 17th

Event Organisers Bernard Crowley and Jack Sheehan were on hand to present the proceeds of the Event to the Chairman of Aubane Social Club John F. Kelleher and Committee who were delighted to get such support with John thanking the Blackwater Valley Vintage Group and the people who supported and contributed to the Event held back in August,John said the money will be put to good use for the upkeep and maintenance of the Community Centre which is a vital and integral part of the Aubane Community.

Blackwater Valley Vintage Group are delighted to be associated with Aubane Social Club and since the Group was formed back in July 2024 they have been made very welcome in Aubane where they have been able use a top class facility in Aubane Community Centre which is ideal to hold there Events,Jack Sheehan and Bernard Crowley also paid tribute to the People in the locality who help out in the Running of there Events out of Aubane and to the Landowners in the locality for allowing us use there land for Parking when needed,they concluded by saying that they looked forward to working with the people of Aubane and Aubane Community Centre again in 2026.

Blackwater Valley Vintage Group would like to thank Everybody who made the trip to Aubane on Sunday last for our Vintage Car and Tractor Run in aid of Aubane Community Centre.

Bernard Crowley and Jack Sheehan headed the Car and Tractor Runs and they wish to acknowledge the help they got in the lead up to the Event and on the day itself,to the Catering Crew in Aubane all we can say is that they looked after us so well with top class food and hospitality which they very kindly sponsored and supplied free of charge and also giving us the use of a top class venue in Aubane Community Centre,to the People of Aubane who helped on the day and made us so welcome and also allowed us the use of there properties for parking as well we thank you very much,to Sheila Fitzgerald

All Roads lead to Aubane tomorrow for the Blackwater Valley Vintage Car Run and Pre-1995 Vintage Tractor Run happening on this Sunday August 17th on what will be the Groups Final Event for 2025 which is in aid of the upkeep and maintenance of Aubane Community Centre.

The Aubane Community Centre Crew look after us very well as a Group and on next Sunday for our Vintage Tractor/ Car Run and in appreciation for us supporting them on our Event they will be giving complimentary Tea/Scones etc at Sign On and on Return to the Centre for the Finish of the Event there will be a Complimentary Cold Plate for all Entrants as well and also we have Sheila Fitzgerald giving us Musical Entertainment at the Finish,there will also be Spot Prizes and a free Draw on the Day also.

Blackwater Valley Vintage Group would like to thank everyone for there generous support at our Vintage Tractor Run held last Sunday in Aubane, €1452.94 was the Final Total from the Event, this funding will be used to finance our Running Costs for the year ahead.
When we set up the Group in July 2024 the start up costs and insurance cover back then was covered by our 10 Group Members for the 2024 period,with this it was decided going forward to do our first Event of this year primarily to fund our Insurance cover for 2025, along with other expenses,we thank each and everyone of you for your generous support which puts us in a good footing for the year ahead.

Blackwater Valley Vintage Group will also make a donation to a Charity of its choice which will be announced in due course,and we look forward to seeing you all at our Events for 2025.

Blackwater Valley Vintage Group had a super turnout last Sunday over in Aubane with great support by each and every one of you who turned out for what was a great day out,we had close on 50 fantastic Vintage Tractors partake in our First Event for 2025 and special mention must go to the Crew in Aubane who looked after us so well as with fantastic hospitality and a great Venue as always,we would also like to thank Super Valu in Millstreet who sponsored the food for the Event and a big shout out as well to all our Sponsors who gave spot prizes for our Draw and to all the Crew at Healys Bar Kilcorney who looked after us so well, to all the Marshalls that took time out to help us along the Route today and to everyone that helped out a big thanks to each and everyone of you, its much appreciated and finally to the Photographers and Videoograpers and Media People who covered the Event we thank you for your support and for making the Trip to our Event last Sunday,we look forward to seeing you all again very soon 👍👍👌👌🚗🚗🚜🚜
