A Celebration of Culture & Inclusion – Millstreet CS – Thank You.

We thank John Magee, Millstreet Community School, for the following Report:
“A Celebration of Culture & Inclusion – Millstreet CS – Thank You.
This event which took place on Thursday 23rd March 2023 was a great success. The school library packed and the audience was able to enjoy music, song, poems, different languages being spoken and dancing from different cultures, including Ireland.  Afterwards there was a wide variety of food to taste from around the world.  We were also able to welcome our special quest, Mr Homayoon Shrizad.  He spoke about his experience of being a refugee from Afghanistan and his current work for Schools of Sanctuary Ireland.

Like all such events, there are lots of people to thank for making it all possible, many of whom were mentioned on the night.  Some though warrant a special mention.

Firstly, all those who contributed food for the night.  A special word of thanks to O’Leary’s Family Butchers, Tony O’Brien Master Butchers and the Golden Wok, all of whom provided delicious wonderful dishes for those attending to taste.

Secondly, Marion Buckley, Jennifer O’Donoghue, Bernie McAuliffe and Gillian O’Riordan, who stayed behind to tidy up in the school canteen after everyone had left.

Thirdly to O’Keeffe’s Supervalu Millstreet for providing three beautiful hampers as prizes for the ‘countries quiz’ that took place during the evening.

Fourthly, thanks to Wordsworth Book and Gift Shop for donating the first prize in the MCS Art competition  on the theme of ‘belonging’.

All in all,  a wonderful evening.  A special thanks to all who attended.”
