We, the family of Seán, wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the support shown to us following the death of our father.
Due to the health restrictions we were unable to meet with family, friends and neighbours but we were greatly touched by the volume of Mass cards, online condolences, and phone calls we received. A special thanks to Seán Radley for the lovely tribute to our father on Local Radio.
Our thanks to the late Dr. Patrick Casey and to the staff of Brídhaven Nursing Home.
We would like to thank the V. Rev. William Winter P.P. for celebrating mass, and a very special thanks to Davy Tarrant and staff for their help, kindness, sensitivity and professionalism with the funeral arrangements.
We would, also, like to thank the staff at the Wallis Arms Hotel for their kindness and assistance. A Mass for Seán’s anniversary will be celebrated at 10am on 29th August 2021 in St. Nicholas’ Church, Kilcorney.

One of the major agribusiness news items during the week was that Coca-Cola are planning to set up a milk plant in Ireland. Not exceptional news as it is well known that Coca-cola is moving to diversify away from sugary drinks.
However, speaking to John yesterday, he was telling us that Coca-Cola have actually been exploring the possibility of setting up their milk plant on the site of the old creamery in Kilcorney. He added that they have been contacting local dairy farmers, if they would be interested supplying their milk directly to the new Coke plant.
Apparently, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, and it is hoped that if the plant goes ahead, the new plant can create a lot of employment for the area, just like the Nutricia infant formula plant has done for Kilmurray.
This superbly professional DVD by the very talented Tadhg Curtin was officially launched at Moll Carthy’s Bridge Bar, Kilcorney on 7th Nov. 2018 (illustrated below) attended by members of Millstreet Men’s Shed. Click on the images to enlarge. A brief trailer of the DVD is also shared below.(S.R.)
My maternal grandparents — Dennis Anthony Lucey and Nora O’Connell — were born in County Cork. Dennis’ birth may be August 1, 1869 at Horsemount, Kilcarney in Millstreet while Nora’s birth is approximately 1871 in Macroom. Dennis’ parents may be John Lucey and Hannah Toomey. I will be coming to Cork this June and it would be a pleasure to discover family connections, so any suggestions, clues or leads in this search will be greatly appreciated.
Dennis and Nora met in San Francisco, California and married in approximately 1900.
