Looking for Rental Property

Hi, I am returning to Ireland to work in March 2015. I am originally from Millstreet and I am looking to find a property for short term (a couple of weeks) to medium term (a couple of months) to rent. Ideally the property would be in Millstreet town, clean, furnished and with 1-2 bedrooms. Can anyone help? It may be of interest to someone with a vacant property that is for sale and wishes to make an income form it in the meantime.
Thank you
Tony (pabroderick@hotmail.com)

The Fair Trade Fest will take place in Millstreet Parish Centre on Saturday 28th February 2015 after 6.30pm Mass.  The event, which takes place during Fairtrade Fortnight, will raise awareness about the opportunities to purchase products marked with the Fairtrade stamp locally and how doing so supports the work of producers in developing countries.  There will be a raffle for this hamper containing Fairtrade goods, some of which have been donated by local retailers.

Michael Angelo O’Callaghan

We received the below email this evening. Does anyone know if the school records for Millstreet are held somewhere, and if they are accessible? or does anyone know of these O’Callaghan’s?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m trying to get information on my Great Uncle, Michael Angelo O’Callaghan. There is a possibility that he went to school in Millstreet. He was born in 1868, so I imagine he started school in 1873. I don’t know if records go back that far, but if they do his name might appear on them. If you can trace him, I would be more than pleased if you could inform me what Secondary school he went to, and if College, which one. Any information at all would be very much appreciated. Thank you

Recently received from a loyal follower of our website:

“I just have to say a big thank you to the excellent Ambulance Crew last Thursday night, 19th February ( approx. 11pm) for the care and expertise they showed to a very sick friend of mine on route to the Mercy Hospital Cork. I won’t mention any names and I don’t know the two boys on duty on the night in question, but in these austere times of constant cutbacks and overstretched health services, I want to acknowledge their wonderful work and the professional service they provide to the Millstreet area.”

Bus Fund Going in the Right Direction

Thank YouA night of wonderful community spirit was on display in Carriganima matched only by an equally wonderful array of items for sale. A Charity Auction in aid of C.A.R.T. (Carriganima Area Rural Transport) was held on February 21st last with bidders a plenty and their generosity was guaranteed on the wide variety of items and services which were up for grabs.
Killian Lynch as auctioneer for the evening was outstanding and insured that all lots went to a good home both near and far. It has to be noted the event had an excellent selection of items too numerous list but all who donated in any way have the gratitude of the Committee who work endlessly to make the event a smooth running event. At the end of the night sports lovers , animal lovers and buyers who value their community went home happy in the knowledge that their efforts made a huge difference to the community. All money raised on the night will go towards the purchase of a bus to transport people for shopping, doctors appointments, collection of prescriptions etc.
C.A.R.T. will continue the weekly bus trips to Macroom on Tuesdays and weekly cards on Sunday nights.
