The big news this morning is that our lotto Jackpot has been won.  Numbers drawn were 7, 8, 10, 25 and the lucky winner of €18,000 at the Clara Inn on Sunday night was Michael Walsh from Kanturk. The lucky seller was Noreen Tarrant who got the sellers prize of €1,800. The cheques will presented at a time yet to be decided. And on behalf of the committee I want to congratulate both Michael and Noreen on their good fortune and to thank all those won bought so lavishly in the run up to this great win.

€20 each went to the following ten people on Sunday night. Conor and Daragh Hanratty, Dublin, Eamon Sheahan, Mallow, Anna Hartnett, Clara Rd. Jackson and Marie c/o Denis Twomey, Grace Dennehy, Rathmore, Erin and Jack, Sandpit House, Dave Barrett Aubane and Abina Sheehan Banteer.  Also John D. & Denise Buckley, Kilmeedy; David Kelleher, Liscahane.

Meanwhile the show must go on. The next draw will be at the Wallis Arms on Sunday next with a Jackpot of €2,000.

The Community Council Awards Social will be held at the Wallis Arms on Friday March 7th. And the following is the list of worthy  recipients.

Please be reminded that the tickets for the Community Council Awards Social are on sale at €25 each  and can be had from any Council Member. Please support it well.

Regular meeting are also being held by the Community Council to plan this years St Patrick’s Day Parade. All are invited to take part. Prizes for Vintage, Culture, Best Fleet, Best Dressed Pet, Best Float, and Best Buggy, plus Best Dressed Window and Best Club Presentation.

Please start to prepare your entry now and make do your bit to Make this year’s parade the best ever in honour of our Patron Saint.

Meanwhile the Community Council are working on the upgrading of our Youth Centre. New machines being added to the Gym and Solar heating being installed to name but a few.

The Southern Branch of Cystic Fibrosis will hold their Fundraising Dance at the Riverside Hotel Macroom on Saturday February 28th. Music by the popular Micheal Collins. Please support it well.

The Active Retired Group AGM takes place to-morrow Wednesday Feb 25th at 7. All are welcome.

Banteer Drama Group will perform “The Buds of Ballybunion” at Cullen Community Centre on Thursday February 26th starting at 8.30.

Eucharistic Adoration at Cullen Church every Thursday from 10am to 7.  Become a regular one hour adorer every week or just drop in for a short while.

Mass For the Late Nora Twomey will be said at Aubane Community Centre this Friday night February 27th at 8.15.

Our Community School will host a Fair trade fest on Saturday Feb 28th at the Parish Centre after the Vigil Mass. It will give information on Fair Trade Products and Sample fair Trade products.

The road blocks through Macroom continues this week. The last one this Thursday Feb 26th. The huge loads on their way to the wind Farm in Ballyvouskil were a great spectacle for all those who stayed up late to see them.

The People of Carriganima held a very successful Auction at the pub on Saturday night in aid of the wonderful local Bus Service called C. A. R. T. The services is a multi purpose one which ferries school children from Macroom to Carriganima national school every day. Also Takes local people to town every Tuesday for shopping or socialising. It also takes people to various places of entertainment,singing pubs, theatres etc. which would be out of their reach otherwise.

Hats Off again to the great people of lovely Carriganima. They deserve our best support.

Eucharistc Adoration in Millstreet Church every Tuesday and Wednesday. Confessions in Millstreet every Saturday from 12.30 to 1.

The sponsored WeighIn continues in Cullen every Monday night, including Zumba and music.

The Tea Party planned for Cullen in March has been called off.

  1. There’s a man going around the Millstreet area with a van offering to buy second hand furniture and claiming to know people from Murphy’s Furniture and asking older people if they lived on their own.
