Laurence (Larry) Morley, Coalpits, Cullen – Acknowledgement and First Anniversary

Laurence (Larry) Morley
Coalpits, Cullen, Mallow, Co. Cork
Acknowledgement and First Anniversary

On the first anniversary of Larry’s passing, his family wish to express their heartfelt thanks for the many acts of kindness, support, and sympathy extended to them during this difficult time.

A sincere thank you to Canon John Fitzgerald, P.P., Millstreet, for Larry’s beautiful memorial mass, to Joan O’Donoghue, the sacristan, and to Joan and Sheila for the beautiful hymns. A special thank you also to Sharon, the Parish Secretary, for helping us choose the beautiful prayers and readings for Larry’s Memorial Mass.

A special and heartfelt thanks to Denis Casey, Funeral Director, Kiskeam, for his guidance, kindness, and professionalism during this difficult time.

Our gratitude also extends to Tom Mulcahy, pharmacist, and to the doctors, nurses, and paramedics, especially those in Mallow General Hospital and University Hospital Kerry, for their care and compassion.

Also a heartfelt thank you to Irene Duggan, Larry’s devoted home carer, for her kindness, compassion, and the wonderful care she gave to him.

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Larry’s former teammates in Cullen GAA for the beautiful guard of honour they formed following his Memorial Mass. Your tribute meant so much to us and added a special touch to the farewell of our beloved Larry.

We are especially grateful to his neighbours, particularly the Moynihans for their continued support and kindness, relatives, and friends who supported us, and to all who travelled to be with us, shared in our grief, or sent Mass cards, letters, floral tributes and online condolences.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this notice as an expression of our sincere appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.

Larry’s Anniversary Mass will be celebrated in Cullen Church on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, at 7.30 p.m.

Millstreet Parish’s Bio-Diversity Journey

MILLSTREET PARISH’S BIO-DIVERSITY JOURNEY

Every journey begins with small steps, and our Parish has taken another step to progress our bio-diversity projects, with the assistance of the children who will receive First Holy Communion in the Parish next year.

Following the Enrolment Masses for the children, last Sunday in Millstreet and on Thursday night in Cullen each child planted a crocus bulb in special planters.  These crocus flowers will be in bloom when the children celebrate their First Holy Communion next year.

This is just one of the Bio-Diversity projects that our Parish has undertaken in our commitment to returning 30% of Parish grounds to nature by 2030, as requested by the conference of Irish Bishops.

Earlier this year our Parish Pastoral Council met and discussed what suitable projects we could undertake. Various ideas were put forward and with the assistance of Rachel Budd, Diocesan advisor on Bio-diversity, our plan was put together.

The full plan for our Parish is on display in the Churchyard in Millstreet and the following will be done by year end/early Spring 2026:

  • Native bluebell seeds have been planted underneath the sign in Millstreet Church grounds.
  • A grant application through “Trees for the land” has been made for apple trees which will be planted on the grounds of Ballydaly Church.
  • Through funding from IRD Duhallow there will be planting of a green area behind Cullen Church with small plants which will attract bees for pollination.
  • In the new year, a swift box will be erected on the roof of Millstreet Church and to the rear of the Church work will commence on an “earth bank.”
  • Ongoing cutting and care of the Old Cemetery

Our Parish Pastoral Council look forward to our community becoming involved in these projects and wants to thank those who have assisted so far.

When we can see God reflected in all that exists,

our hearts are moved to praise the Lord for all his creatures

and to worship him in union with them.”
