Eily’s Report – 20th June
Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a Cairde and welcome to my weekly report.
I hope you’re making the most of this spell of beautiful warm sunny weather.
Our annual Corpus Christi Parade was blessed with sunshine on Sunday last after the 11.30 Mass and a large crowd took part.
And on Monday night Fr. Paddy O Byrne celebrated Mass at Tubrid Well and again a large crowd attended.
The good news here at the moment is that we no longer have to boil our water supply which comes from our holy Tubrid Well. The new filter system has been installed in record time, and we are free to use the precious liquid direct from the tap. Visitors to the Well will find that they will no longer have to bend down to get a cup of water. A nice tap has been put in place plus with a supply of cups. People continue to flock to this Holy place where they will find peace and tranquillity at any time of day or night.

Mark Shines again in the Thurles Sun
“A commanding defensive display from Ellis was instrumental in Cork’s victory today – catching many of the opposing puck-outs in a wonderful show of aerial ability. Although Pauric Mahony did enjoy the odd score, there is no denying that Ellis won the battle with his marker for the most part.
There was simply no getting past the Millstreet man today, and he complemented a fine individual performance with a superb score in what was arguably one of his best displays in a Rebels jersey.” – Pundit Arena
Mark was interview after the game by Mark Dinan of Red FM. Listen to it here from the Big Red Bench podcast (41:35-44:15)

Where The Road Takes Me – On Air from 7pm on C103
We thank Presenter John Greene for the following advance information re this evening’s programme. (S.R.)
Prior to their Open Day on Saturday July 15th next, John Greene returns to Bandon Fire Station to re -join the crew on this week’s edition of Where the road takes me.
In the concluding programme we look back at some of the major fires that the station fought down through the years.
The fire at Phelan’s paint shop on South Main Street in 1948 almost resulted in loss of life.
One of the town’s landmarks – The Mill was destroyed by fire in 1968, and there was also the fire at the cinema a number of years later,.
However, the fire at Flor Griffin’s Warehouse is regarded as being the worst and most dangerous fire, as emergency services considered evacuating the town. [read more …] “Where The Road Takes Me – On Air from 7pm on C103”
