Message of Thanks and Further Information from Mushera Wind Aware Group
Mushera Wind Aware.
On Saturday February 26th. we gave people the opportunity to sign a petition against a wind farm in Ballinagree/ Mushera Mountain. We would like to thank everyone who turned out to support us and everyone who helped in any way. We will not name names because we would definitely leave somebody out but we are greatful for all the support.
We were also delighted to welcome Liadh Ni Riada, Sinn Fein candidate for Cork North West who came from Coolea to assure us of her continuing support.
We know that many people were not able to make it to sign the petition on Saturday so with that in mind, they can text their name and address to any one of the following numbers and we will add them to the petition.
087 412 6175
087 640 3530
or
086 062 1269
A lot of people asked about a public meeting and why we haven’t held one. The fact is that we are afraid to in case we would be the cause of an outbreak of Covid. This restricts us very much because we know that many of you want to get involved and help fight this proposed development. We are doing the best we can by making opportunity available to sign the petition.
Again thanks to everyone.

Donated Windows at St. Nicholas Church, Kilcorney
During the restorations at the St Nicholas’ church in Kilcorney, there was an appeal to the parish to donate stained glass windows to the church. At that time there were only bare PVC windows in the building. The response was great and in January we fitted the 7th set of panels. Integrated in the first 4 windows are over 100-years old stained glass panels, depicting 8 Saints.
We would like to thank the Kilcorney parish and the donors for the opportunity to create these windows. The parish is still looking to fill 2 large windows and 1 small one in the church. If you are interested in donating, please contact us or Fr. Winter in Banteer.
Thank you and stay safe – Ildánach Stained Glass Studio

Missing from Kilcorney
St Nicholas Church Re-Dedication
Almost two years ago St Nicholas Church, Kilcorney was severely damaged by Storm Ophelia and following extensive repair and modernisation Bishop William Crean (Bishop of Cloyne) performed the blessing and re-dedication of the Church recently.
Pat Sheehan on behalf of the community welcomed the Bishop and Priests and gave a short history of Kilcorney Church which was first blessed and dedicated by Bishop Timothy Murphy on Christmas Day 1856.
Mass was concelebrated by a number of former priests of the parish and priests from the surrounding parishes.
In his homily Bishop Crean said it was an honour and a privilege to be re-dedicating the church as he had been in Kilcorney the day after the storm and he has seen first hand the destruction that it had caused. He spoke about the value of the church to the local community and how in the time of trouble the community came together to rescue the church. He also commented on the number of young families attending the church and looking at the number of altar servers present he felt that the church is in good hands. Music was lead by our local church choir who were joined by Kilcorney National School pupils. Fr William Winter PP of Banteer spoke of his joy on getting to this night and thanked everyone who were involved in the revamp of the church. He also expressed his gratitude to the local Community Council for the use of the Community Centre during the last two years for the liturgical ceremonies. At the end of the ceremony Maeve Buckley (Senior Altar Server) made a presentation to Bishop Crean on behalf of all the altar services.
Kilcorney National School – Christmas
As we draw near to the end of our first term in school we would like to thank the parents and pupils of Kilcorney N.S. for their wonderful generosity and kindness shown to various charities. The school sent off over 40 shoeboxes in November. We also collected an enormous amount of hats, gloves, toiletries, etc. for the Simon Community and a total of €208 was collected following our Christmas Nativity (pictures below) for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. We wish you all a peaceful Christmas.
