In Millstreet In Duhallow

The Skylark
In Millstreet in Duhallow where Finnow waters flow
Above the bog where the rushes in clusters do grow
The sun hidden behind woolly looking clouds of gray
Where the little brown skylark is singing today
A musical speck in the morning sky
Born in a ground nest to sing he has to fly
And the river bird everyone does seem to know
The dark brown dipper with breast white as snow
With a voice from once heard one could never again get wrong
In River Finnow sings his scratchy song
In Millstreet in Duhallow from here far away
The lark in the gray sky is singing today.

Millstreet Marymount Hospice Fundraiser Progressing Well

Hurricane Darwin which Ireland experienced in early 2014 resulted in at least one very positive outcome here in Millstreet in that the enormous amount of fallen trees inspired two wonderfully community-spirited gentlemen to use the enormous amount of wooden logs as prizes for a Fundraiser in aid of Cork's Marymount Hospice. Below is a sample of the official ticket. Already the two very dedicated men have fundraised at both Cloghoula N.S. Pattern Day and Kilcorney Feis 2014. The response has been great. A Committee of some six people holds meetings on a regular basis to coordinate the inspiring project for this praiseworthy cause. There is also a Millstreet Credit Union Account No. 3789T

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1220 from  Millstreet.Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely Tuesday morning, the first one in June. The lovely Month of May is gone but not forgotten. It was celebrated in style here in Duhallow t hanks to IRD Duhallow and the many people all over the barony who helped to put a wonderful program together.

One for every single day of the month.

The choice was wide-ranging and flexible, which meant that there was something for everyone. From early morning outdoor Masses, to late night concerts and dances. From photography and tablet training to lunchtime dramas, the list goes on . Last Thursday night in the waking days of the month a wonderful variety concert was held at Freemount. For almost three hours the cream of Duhallow’s talent entertained the large crowd. And in line with true Duhallow hospitality, some welcome refreshments were served to all at half time.
I want to compliment the organisers on their superb nights entertainment and to thanks them for the great time that was had by all. [read more …] “Regional Report 1220”
