  1. Marie and I just read of the passing of Pat Kelly on December 21st. Pat was a person that we had gotten to know on our first trip to Millstreet, and then we met him twice again in 2012 and renewed our friendship. Sean Radley was the person who introduced us. Pat was a true gentleman, and so helpful to our search for our cousin, Connie Kelly of Ploverfield. We considered Pat a friend, and will miss him, our condolences to his family. Joe & Marie Denehy

    1. Joe & Marie – Your very sincere comment truly illustrates what a gentleman supreme Pat Kelly was. The hugely impressive Guard of Honour at the Funeral tonight where so many teaching colleagues from far and near as well as numerous representatives from the various sporting interests in which Pat was involved in such a dedicated manner – participated, is a clear indication of the high esteem in which Pat was held. As a teaching colleague in Scoil Mhuire, Millstreet Boys’ National School Pat was outstanding in the manner by which he was so wonderfully supportive, consistently interesting and marvellously energetic. It was indeed a great privilege to have been on the same Staff as Pat. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Patricia and all the Family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

  2. A teacher in Millstreet boys primary school of time quite a span
In Millstreet Town he first saw light of day and grew into a man
And in Coomlogane they raised their children he and Patricia his devoted wife
Pat Kelly will be missed from Millstreet where he lived all of his life

A prominent member of the working committee of the Millstreet Coursing Club for many years
Pat Kelly’s passing in Millstreet would not have gone without tears
His great love of greyhounds came from his long deceased father Joe
Who owned, bred and trained track and coursing dogs decades ago

He followed Bill Keeffe as principal of Millstreet Boys Primary School when in his life’s prime
A teacher and mentor to generations of Millstreet boys going way back in time
Well liked and respected and in Duhallow well known
Pat Kelly was surely one of Millstreet’s own

In his late sixties or early seventies when he drew his life’s final breath
One loved by many in life who will not be forgotten in death
By Cashman’s Hill in St Mary’s where many of the deceased of Millstreet lay
Forever in peace he is with them today.
