Regional Report 1228 – 29th July 2014
by
Eily Buckley
Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1228 from Millstreet .Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this hazy Tuesday morning, the last one in July.
Sadly we said a fond farewell to our beloved Jugglers at the weekend. From 40 countries they endeared themselves to our entire Community during their stay. They infused an air of fun and wellbeing into us all. They performed their mighty skills in all sorts of places. On top of Clara Mountain. At Commatrush Lake, Kilmeedy Castle, Tubrid Well, to name just a few.
Sean Radley gave tours of the town every day, and there was a big turn out each time. The Sun shone for most of the time and it was lovely to see them in their hundreds, enjoying Millstreet Cuisine, while sitting on the edge of footpaths or walls and having the cupla focail with all around them.
Their behaviour was impeccable, and as I said, the Grand Parade on Saturday surpassed all expectations. A huge crowd lined the streets and they were not disappointed.
The Town looked beautiful following its recent facelift. And the Mini Festival organised by our Development Group added further enjoyment to the weekend.
The Karaoke Idol on Friday night was great fun. As was the Soap Box race on Sunday Afternoon.
Soapbox Race photos
The Millstreet Men’s Shed Soapbox Race and Kart Drifting Exhibition was held on the Clara Road on Sunday evening (July 27th) as the final part of the Millstreet Summer Festival. Below are some photos of the racing which were sent to us by Geralding Dennehy.

A Thank you to Millstreet
from Kerry Peck: “Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Millstreet and all it’s residents for making everyone attending the EJC feel so welcome and for organising the glorious weather 😉 We all had a fabulous time and it was so lovely to meet so many of the local community who were so generous with there support for the event, it certainly felt like we became part of the community for the time we spent in Millstreet. Plus the parade was amazing with so many people lining the streets and we hope you all enjoyed being a part of the juggling community. Special thanks also to Sean for his enthusiasm about the EJC and his great tours of Millstreet. Hope we all get the chance to come back…….” [read more …] “A Thank you to Millstreet”

The week when we welcome back the mighty European Juggling Festival after six years. Last time 30 countries came and this time we have ten more. They are made up of people of both genders, all ages and nationalities and they raise the spirits of our Town with their merry ways and spectacular skills.
