Sliabh Luachra Cycling Club weekly news update

Well done to Donie Kelleher, Johnny R O Sullivan, Dan Murphy and Denis O Connor who competed in the North Tipperary Wheelers open Road Race last Sunday in Nenagh. Denis was on a number of breaks throughout the 120 km race and finished 7th overall, a very commendable performance.

The juveniles enjoyed a tough training session on the Outdoor Velo Track in Kanturk Saturday morning, a great facility to have in the locality.

With the weather improving the Leisure Sunday spins are taking off with up to 25 heading out on various distances last weekend. Next weekend the Juveniles are travelling to Coalisland to complete in the PJ Logan races with some of the adult members planning to undertake the SRAC Atlantic Challenge a tough 135 km trip around West Kerry.

It’s now only 15 weeks to the Ring of Kerry so now is the perfect time to kick off your plan and build the miles up gradually. Eily’s Report 26th March

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde, and welcome to my report.

It’s the last week of March, the third week of the Season of Lent. It was a very exciting week in Millstreet with the Sacrament of Confirmation been given to 97 young boys and girls representing Millstreet, Cloghoula and Cullen  schools. Our big church was packed to capacity and the sunny day outside added to the wonder of it all. The Girls from the Presentation Convent School sang the hymns through the ceremony with His Lordship Bishop Ray Browne as Chief Celebrant. Families and extended family members came from many parts of Ireland as well as from many other countries to join their loved ones in the Holy Celebration.

Following the ceremony the Bishop and Priests traveled to Dromagh  to impart the Sacrament of Confirmation on a number of Children there, and we would to thank the Clergy for the wonderful ceremonies and congratulate all the boys and girls who were Confirmed and wish them God’s Blessing in the future.

Celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation 2019 in Millstreet

Blessed with splendid weather some 97 young people received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet on Wednesday, 20th March 2019 with Bishop of Kerry – Bishop Ray Browne – administering the Sacrament.   The Liturgy, singing, music and the excellent coordination of photographic recordings – all were a true credit to the various Coordinators.   Bishop Ray stood for not only class group photographs of Presentation N.S., Millstreet B.N.S., Cloghoula N.S. and Cullen N.S. but also for every individual as well as family groups.  Here we share some 28 images from the most impressive celebration.  Click on the pictures to enlarge.  (S.R.)
