HURLEY (Knocknageeha, Boherbue and formerly of Thornbury, Bristol): On October 1, 2013, passed away, peacefully, after a short illness, at Mallow General Hospital, JUDY. Lovingly remembered by her sons Steven and Daniel, daughter Maria, sister Jean, her son-in-law Michael Lucey, daughter-in-law Babera, brother-in-law Raymond, grandchildren David, Ryan and Nicola, great-granddaughter Ruby, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace.
Reposing at Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet on this Friday evening from 5pm. Removal (same evening) to St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet at 7pm. Cremation on tomorrow, Saturday, at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co Cork.
The Irish Tarmac Rally Championship rolls into Millstreet this weekend for the Cork 20 International Rally. Since 1993, Cork has provided the final round of the championship and over those 20 years the event has thrown up a few real surprise results. James Cullen taking an outright win in a Group N Escort Cosworth in ‘93, Stephen Finlay throwing away the title in ’94, Gabriel Snow taking a surprise win in ’96 and Ian Greer doing the same in ’98 are the ones that immediately spring to mind but the championship contenders this year will be hoping for no such surprises.
Garry Jennings heads to Cork at the summit of the championship standings. The Fermanagh based driver will once again team up with experienced co-driver Rory Kennedy and Jennings doesn’t even need to win in Cork to take his maiden Irish Tarmac Championship. A Trad for Trocaire will take place on Thursday 3rd Oct. at 8pm in Millstreet Community School library. Admission is free. There will be a collection to support of Trocaire’s work in developing countries during the evening. All welcome.
Two of the Transition Year students who are helping to co-ordinate the event, James Linehan and Darren Kiely, are due to play a few tunes to advertise the event on c103’s Cork Today with Patricia Messenger at about 11.45am tomorrow (3rd Oct)

The Annual Perpetual Cups Tournament in memory of the late Tommy O’Connor, Alan O’Connor, and Connie Kelleher R.I.P., will be held on Sunday September 29th Saturday 5th October Saturday October 12th in the Town Park.
The tournaments are for U8’s football, U10’s football, and U12’s hurling.
Players are asked to be in park at 10:45am as games will begin at 11am sharp.

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this the first day of October.
The excitement is building up here for the Cork 20 International Rally at the end of the week. There’s a rush on in the work on the Square to have the place cleared for the Big Event. Officials are busy putting up signs and notices on all the roads that will be involved, and there’s a sort of calm before the storm atmostphere in the air.
The Rally will be held on this Saturday and Sunday October 5/6th. On Friday at 8pm it will officially commence with up to twenty cars going over the start ramp in the square.
The Cork 20 International Rally Family Festival is on Oct 4,5,6th.That’s next Friday Saturday and Sunday.

Jimmy Murphy alerts us to the fact that the official presentation of cheques to Millstreet and Macroom Hospitals takes place on Saturday, 5th October at 9.30 p.m. in The Pub, Carriganima. This uplifting occasion is the result of the recent hugely successful Carriganima Run/Jog/Walk fundraising event superbly coordinated by Jimmy and his wonderfully dedicated Team. Everyone is welcome to attend the presentations at The Pub and Jimmy extends his heartfelt thanks to all who helped to make the event on Saturday, 21st September 2013 such an outstanding success. The next “Music Room” presentation at the Pearse Memorial Hall in Boherbue takes place on Wednesday, 9th October 2013 at 8.00 p.m.. Guest Presenter is Nora Burke of Kanturk. The next Millstreet Gramophone Circle presentation is on Friday, 18th October at 8.15 p.m. where I shall be attempting to share twenty tracks of some of my favourite music.
