Death Notice: Judy Hurley, Boherbue

HURLEY (Knocknageeha, Boherbue and formerly of Thornbury, Bristol): On October 1, 2013, passed away, peacefully, after a short illness, at Mallow General Hospital, JUDY. Lovingly remembered by her sons Steven and Daniel, daughter Maria, sister Jean, her son-in-law Michael Lucey, daughter-in-law Babera, brother-in-law Raymond, grandchildren David, Ryan and Nicola, great-granddaughter Ruby, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace.
Reposing at Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet on this Friday evening from 5pm. Removal (same evening) to St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet at 7pm. Cremation on tomorrow, Saturday, at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co Cork.

Cork 20 International Rally Preview

Josh Moffett will be looking to repeat his Ulster Rally performance (pic Kevin Glendinning)The Irish Tarmac Rally Championship rolls into Millstreet this weekend for the Cork 20 International Rally. Since 1993, Cork has provided the final round of the championship and over those 20 years the event has thrown up a few real surprise results. James Cullen taking an outright win in a Group N Escort Cosworth in ‘93, Stephen Finlay throwing away the title in ’94, Gabriel Snow taking a surprise win in ’96 and Ian Greer doing the same in ’98 are the ones that immediately spring to mind but the championship contenders this year will be hoping for no such surprises.

Garry Jennings heads to Cork at the summit of the championship standings. The Fermanagh based driver will once again team up with experienced co-driver Rory Kennedy and Jennings doesn’t even need to win in Cork to take his maiden Irish Tarmac Championship. Millstreet Prepares for Cork 20 Motor Rally 2013

With lots of black-and-white chequered flags on display Millstreet is preparing for a very special weekend of Motor Rally features celebrating the 2013 Cork 20 in our area.  Superb exhibitions of model cars appear not only at The Square but also on Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. by Seán Buckley at Millstreet Museum.  Here we share some of the preparatory images. Superb Musical Presentation at “Trad for Trócaire”

A superb presentation of music and song by the wonderfully talented Students of Millstreet Community School on Thursday, 3rd Oct. 2013 took place at the School in aid of "Trad for Trócaire".   The splendid work of Trócaire was outlined at the end of the musical sequence.   Sincere congratulations to all who contributed to such an uplifting occasion.   We hope to share highlights of the performance on "Radio Treasures" on Tuesday week, 15th October.   (S.R.)
