Presentation of Superb Calendar 2023 Cheque to Millstreet Website

The Voluntary Team of the Millstreet Website extends sincere thanks to Millstreet Community Council for having nominated www.millstreet.ie to be the recipient of the fundraising cheque associated with the sale of the very impressive Millstreet Calendar 2023.   On Tuesday evening, 18th April 2023 at Millstreet Centre for Further Education & Training in Main Street a truly magnificent cheque of €1,500.00 was presented to help defray the running costs of the Millstreet Website.  Míle, míle buíochas for such greatly appreciated support and special thanks also to everyone who purchased the treasured Millstreet Calendar 2023.   Here we share images from the cheque presentation.  Tap on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Millstreet Vintage Club Makes Superbly Generous Presentation

On a very regular basis Bernard Crowley, PRO Supreme of Millstreet Vintage Club, uploads on the Millstreet Website many excellent promotions and outcomes of various highly praiseworthy fundraising events organised by Millstreet Vintage Club with splendid pictorial illustrations by Danny Lane.  Motivated by a suggestion by Luke Hurley it was decided that under the coordination of Dan O’Riordan and his wonderfully dedicated MVC Team that the Tractor Run on Sunday, 8th May 2022 would be held in aid of Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Community Website.   We are hugely grateful for the recent presentation of such a magnificent Cheque resulting from the splendidly successful Tractor Run.   This will greatly assist us to defray our substantial costs relating to the Museum and the Website.   Here we share images from the Cheque Presentation at Millstreet’s Carnegie Hall on Monday, 18th Sept. 2022.   We also recall the very memorable Tractor Run on 8th May when we were blessed with superb weather, such a joyful and inspirational spirit and a truly happy atmosphere.  We express our sincere thanks to Millstreet Vintage Club and the very many people who so generously contributed including a most magnificent contribution from Patrick W. Great Turnout for The Millstreet Vintage Club Tractor Run for Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website held on Sunday May 8th

Millstreet Vintage Club recently held a most successful Tractor Run on Sunday May 8th last in Millstreet in aid of Millstreet Museum and the Millstreet.ie Website,the Club wish to thank Everyone for the fantastic support received at the Event with an impressive 64 Tractors taking to the Road just after 12.30pm from Millstreet and from there it took in some great Countryside Views in the Duhallow Region before crossing over the Border into the Kingdom of Kerry as it transversed close to Rathmore before looping back on a similar but slightly different Route to return back to Millstreet over an hour and a half later,the Weather was kind as well for the occasion and Clerk of the Course Dan O’Riordan wishes to thank all the Marshals for keeping the Event Run smoothly on the Road and in helping to co-ordinate Parking etc,also many thanks to Mick Duggan and his Co-Pilots Sean Radley and Willie Fitzgerald along with Bike Marshalls Seanie Kelleher and Anthony Kelleher for leading the Tractors out on the Road and keeping the Run progress so smoothly,to the Hardworking Crew at Sign On and to the Media and Photographers for covering the Event also many thanks to The Wallis Arms Hotel for providing the Venue and Great Hospitality at Sign On,also thanks to An Garda Siochana and Cork County Council for there help and to Sean Radley for all his help,Jack Sheehan won The Perpetual Trophy for Best Tractor on the Day and Millstreet Vintage Club want to thank Everyone for the great Turn Out and Support from the Public on the day,it is very much appreciated.

Millstreet Vintage Club are holding a Tractor Run on next Sunday May 8th Starting and Finishing in Millstreet Town,a Scenic Route is Planned to go in a direction West of the Town,the Run is in Aid of both Millstreet Museum and The Millstreet Website which are two very important Services to both the Millstreet Locality and the Wider Surrounding Area.

Sign On for The Tractor Run will be at the Wallis Arms Hotel Millstreet from 11am with Take Off at 12.30pm,Entry Fee is €20 and all Tractors are very Welcome,There will be a Perpetual Trophy for the Best Vintage Tractor on the day and your Support would be very Welcome,for Details Contact Dan O’Riordan on 087 2452569

Millstreet Vintage Tractor Run Launch at Museum

At 7pm this Friday, 22nd April 2022 Members of Millstreet Vintage Club assembled at the West End Car Park beside the Carnegie Hall to officially launch the very special Tractor Run in aid of Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Community Website which will take place on Sunday, 8th May 2022 incorporating a wonderfully scenic route which begins at The Square and continues back Clara Road progressing over the border to the Kingdom and returning home to Millstreet.   Sincere thanks to Millstreet Vintage Club on organising this greatly appreciated fundraising event.  Many thanks to Photographer/Correspondent supreme, John Tarrant for photographing the Launch for later publication on the “Corkman”.  Here we share some 11 images from Friday’s Launch.   Tap on the photos to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Final Update of Fundraising for Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website

As we conclude our fundraising for Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website we are presently compiling a record in the Museum of the many very generous Individuals, Businesses and Local Organisations such as Millstreet Town Park Committee, Millstreet Community Council, Millstreet Vintage Club, Millstreet GAA and Millstreet Community Singers to mention but some – all of whom have been so enormously generous, supportive and encouraging.   Below we share the final update which we have just published on the GoFundMe platform.   While we have already individually thanked many of our very generous Donors we have yet to write to many acknowledging their contributions and extending thanks.

“Dear Wonderfully Supportive Friends we’ve reached our Final Update of our phenomenally successful GoFundMe Campaign in aid of Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Community Website. Our Grand Total of €6,534.84 (after fees) in the GoFundMe Project is absolutely magnificent and very much beyond our expectations. We wish to extend our most sincere thanks to the many people who have so very kindly supported this Project and who have been so hugely encouraging not only with their greatly appreciated Donations but also by their superbly uplifting comments. We also wish to thank the GoFundMe Team especially Ida for their professional guidance and assistance. This tremendous response to our Project will cover our ongoing costs and will also allow for important developments at the Museum and on the Website that up to now could not have become a reality. In addition to our GoFundMe total we have also received separate Donations from very generous Local Organisations, Businesses and Individuals reaching €2,908.00. When added to our GoFundMe total – the overall Grand Total is a hugely impressive €9,442.84. Museum & Website Fundraising Success

Having now ended our hugely successful GoFundMe Project we observe the attached image of Clara Mountain, Millstreet, Co. Cork, Ireland at the foot of which nestles Millstreet Town where our Museum and Community Website are very much part of everyday Millstreet life.   It is, therefore, superbly uplifting to have witnessed such amazing generosity from so many wonderfully kind people and organisations at home and abroad who have supported our fundraising project.   By 20th August 2020 a total of €6515.67 will have been transferred from the GoFundMe platform to our Museum Bank of Ireland Account.   The total raised was €6,750 and fees of €234.33 were deducted.   A million thanks to all our splendid Supporters and also to the GoFundMe Company for making such an excellent fundraising platform available.   In addition the extra donations received by post and by hand will be included with the GoFundMe total when on Thursday, 20th August 2020 we shall publish on the Millstreet Website the overall Grand Total.   Renewed heartfelt thanks to Everyone who has so generously supported our fundraising for Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website.  Míle Buíochas – Seán Radley, Curator, Millstreet Museum and Member of Millstreet Website Team.

Online Fundraising for Museum & Website Concludes

Our week long fundraising project in aid of Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website has now come to a close. We are, however, not yet deleting the campaign until the total fund is transferred to our Museum Bank Account. At that point the online project finally concludes. The absolutely amazing response received through the GoFund Me project has been totally phenomenal. The final amount donated plus the contributions received by post and by hand will be published within the next few days……Renewed heartfelt thanks to All – Seán Radley

Museum & Website Online Fundraising Ends on Tuesday

Before we end our Go Fund Me Project on this coming Tuesday, 4th August 2020 we extend sincere thanks for the absolutely amazing generous response we have received for Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website over the past few days. In addition to donations received by post and by hand which have amounted to €450.00  our Go Fund Me fundraising has by this Friday, 31st July 2020 reached a hugely impressive €4, 175.00. We shall on this coming Wednesday publish the final amount received. Such an outstandingly generous response from home and abroad will allow us to now update our older well worn recording equipment and will also permit us to explore the availability of podcasts of current and historic audio recordings. Upgrading of software to share video and audio recordings and broadcasts will now also become a possible reality. Although a personal thank you has been sent to all who have contributed we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has in any way been so very supportive in this year’s fundraising Project for the Museum and Website. It is truly appreciated. The accompanying very kind comments received with different donations are also a wonderful source of encouragement. Keep safe and well All. Truly Magnificent Response to the Annual Funding of Museum & Millstreet Website

The amazing generosity of the very kind Supporters of Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website has been superbly demonstrated within the past 22 hours when a magnificent €1,575.00 has been very kindly donated through our Go Fund Me page by 35 wonderfully generous people at home and abroad.  To reach such an uplifting target in less than one day is utterly incredible and is hugely appreciated.   It allows us to continue our work at Millstreet Museum and to maintain the Millstreet Website.   The work of Volunteers in these Projects is vital and to them we extend heartfelt thanks.  Our Go Fund Me page will remain open until the end of next week coinciding with the week of our usual Church Gate Collection which due to COVID-19 this year has been replaced by this Go Fund Me project.   Míle buíochas to All.  (S.R.)

Although we have our annual permit for the holding of our Annual Church Gate Collection for this coming weekend 1st & 2nd August 2020 we shall not be holding this Collection due to COVID-19.  Instead, for this year, we are setting up a Go Fund Me page to afford the opportunity of supporting the two local community-based voluntary services – Millstreet Museum & Millstreet Website.   Running costs at our Museum include annual insurance of €1,000.00 plus lighting, heating and development expenses while for the Millstreet Website we have hosting and domain name costs.

Splendid Support for Website from The Pub in Carriganima

Last Saturday night (11th Jan. 2020) the wonderful singer Michelle Murphy from Wexford accompanied by the excellent music of Pat Bucke appeared at The Pub in Carriganima to a capacity audience.   Adding to the marvellous occasion there were Birthday Celebrations plus a Draw.   And, then to our very pleasant surprise Seán Murphy with his brilliant Team of Organisers presented €200.00 to the Millstreet Website in recognition of the website’s promotion of Carriganima Events.   The Team includes Jimmy Murphy, John Joe Moriarty and Bernard Crowley as well as a further number of Carriganima Supporters.   Bernard Crowley himself is very much part of the overall Millstreet Website Team with very comprehensive regular reports on Millstreet Vintage Club and Carriganima plus Aubane Activities.   Sincere thanks Bernard for such important features on our website.   Here we share images from that very special night at The Pub in Carriganima on 11th January.  Tap on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.) Supporting Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website This Weekend

Two Students – Caoimh Sheahan and Ronan Fraser from Scoil Mhuire, Millstreet B.N.S. being video-recorded following their magnificent three-day trip to London in 2000 which included a visit to to the West End Musical “Buddy” and also having the superb “Legoland” experience in Windsor near London. The boys gave a truly excellent account of their memorable trip to England in 2000.

Wonderfully Generous Response to Millstreet Museum & Millstreet Website Church Gate Collection 2018

Sincere thanks to all who so very kindly contributed to last weekend’s church gate collection 2018 for Millstreet Museum and Millstreet Website which amounted to €2,302.17 (plus €25.00 cheque from Tralee this morning). Such generous support is greatly appreciated.  This uplifting amount was made up from the contributions at Millstreet church gate collection of €2,082.17 plus very kind donations presented from abroad and also from local people who delivered such donations before and after our annual church gate collection of €220.00.   This money will very much assist us in the continuation of running our Museum (insurance, heating, lighting and developments) and our Website (server and domain costs).   Having Myra Sheehan assisting in our Museum under a Government Scheme has meant such a lot and we only so wish such a hugely valuable Scheme could be extended.   We’re sincerely thankful to our Website Team (pictured below) who give of their talents and time entirely on a spontaneous manner to help maintain one of the most highly regarded community websites in Ireland.  We renew our appeal to our Website Visitors national and international who may wish to support our work anytime during the year.   For this purpose we’ve set up a Bank of Ireland facility where one can contribute if one wishes at any time. We have arranged to set up an electronic system with the Bank of Ireland here in Millstreet (where our Museum/Website account exists) whereby anyone can transfer a desired donation to the account by just quoting at one’s own Bank our relevant numbers which are: IBAN No.: IE22 BOFI 9058 0334 0531 43 and the BIC No.:  BOFIIE2D. We are most grateful to the many people who have very kindly used this method of support over the past year. Annual Collection in Support of Millstreet Museum & Millstreet Website This Coming Weekend 4th & 5th August 2018

Because this annual collection is our only source of funding to maintain our Museum/Tourist Information Centre plus our only way of maintaining our Millstreet Website www.millstreet.ie – we very much appreciate support at our Church gate Collection this coming weekend (4th & 5th August 2018) outside St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet. We’ve always only held our Collection in Millstreet but if people in the Ballydaly and Cullen areas wish to support our efforts also it would indeed help to further enhance our services. Our main costings at the Museum are for insurance, heating, lighting and limited development. Our Millstreet website costs are for annual subscriptions to our Server and also for the use of our .ie domain name. All those involved in both the Museum and the Website gladly work on a voluntary basis like so many others involved in other local organisations promoting the Community Spirit for which Millstreet has oftentimes been much praised. Thanking you in anticipation of such wonderful continuing support – Seán Radley on behalf of Millstreet Museum Society and the Millstreet Website Team.

This is our Annual Collection and is our only source of income for both our Museum and Website. Magnificent Response to Our Museum & Website Collection 2016

Annual Collection in Support of Millstreet Museum & Millstreet Website

Because thjs annual collection is our only source of funding to maintain our Museum/Tourist Information Centre plus our only way of maintaining our Millstreet website www.millstreet.ie - we very much appreciate support at our Church gate Collection this weekend. We've always only held our Collection in Millstreet but if people in the Ballydaly and Cullen areas wish to support our efforts also it would indeed help to further enhance our services. Our main costings at the Museum are for insurance, heating, lighting and limited development. Our Millstreet website costs are for annual subscriptions towards

Supporting Our Museum and Our Millstreet Website This Weekend

Having been shortlisted in itself as one of the five chosen community websites in Ireland is greatly encouraging and is a true recognition that the sincere dedication of the entire Team is recognised at a national level. Millstreet Website Nominated for National Awards Event on 24th January 2015

We are delighted to share the wonderfully uplifting news that our Millstreet Wesbite has been nominated in the Best Connected Community section of the upcoming LAMA 2015 Awards (Community & Council) ceremony which takes place at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Santry, Dublin on Saturday, 24th January 2015 (yes – unfortunately coinciding with the Millstreet GAA Victory Social in Killarney!).   The MC for this national event is Miriam O’Callaghan.   The section in which we are placed is highly competitive with the winner from last year clontarf.ie also participating!  The other websites in our category are Drumlane.ie, Donegaltown.ie and Castleblaney.ie  (full list of finalists). Irrespective of any possible win, it is indeed a great honour having been approached to submit an application, to have been shortlisted and to receive an invitation to attend the Dublin event.

Reflecting on the history of our website – it was the Duggan Family of Green Glens who initially financed the first local website.  Hannelie O’Connor had a wonderful vision of what a website should offer and has worked tirelessly from the outset to bring about such a vision to reality.   We were so blessed that Michael Cashman joined our website team and is now undoubtedly our Captain Supreme such is his amazing dedication, unending patience, utter fairness and remarkable technological expertise.  The advice of such people as John O’Riordan and others has been much appreciated. 

The three Administrators of the website – Hannelie, Michael and I – are of course so very grateful to our Extended Team which includes such regular contributors as Eily Buckley (Regional News), Sharon Lane (Parish News), Bernard Crowley (LTV2 Millstreet Online), Francis Duggan (Poet Supreme directly from Australia), John Tarrant (News, Sport & Photographer), Fr. James McSweeney (Reflections on ww.2u.ie  and Photographer), Geraldine Dennehy (Photographer), Jack Lane (Aubane Historical Society), John F Kelleher (Aubane Social Club), Rebecca Ambrose, Michelle O’Keeffe, and John Magee (Millstreet Community School), Justin Black of “Justborn Photography” – to mention but some of our enthusiastic helpers. It is this great Team working in a totally voluntary manner that has led to the quite amazing development of our website with an ever increasing growth in new visitors to our site.  We are grateful to Cork Co. Council for trusting us with the official Millstreet.ie name.  And we are indeed very thankful to Canon John Fitzgerald, P.P. for his much appreciated and sincere support in emphasising the important communication outlet into which the website has developed over the years. 

Above all, we extend heartfelt thanks to all of you who so very loyally visit our site on such a regular basis, who contribute valuable news, comments and suggestions.   The website has truly become an important platform for all, a valued form of daily communication and a magnificent means by which we can project Millstreet in its very best light while also permitting a means by which a wide variety of suggestions may be aired and constructively discussed.  We are particularly pleased to realise how very much appreciated our website is by our many emigrants across the world.  Their regular positive words of encouragement are such a great source of inspiration to us all and further stimulate us to enhance the website as much as we can.  In so many ways we feel so very happy in the category into which they have placed us in the forthcoming LAMA Awards Event – “Best Connected Community” !
