Crowley in Munster Minor Football Final
Best of luck to Kevin Crowley who will play with the Cork Minor team against Tipperary in the Munster Final next Sunday 3rd July at 12pm in Killarney (before the Senior Final). Kevin will play at wing back (#5) again in the final.
In a preview in the Corkman says that “McEoin and wing-back Kevin Crowley (Millstreet) have arguably been Cork’s most impressive performers over the two games to date“. There is another preview of the game on the Irish Examiner.
Check the video below to see how Cork and Crowley (#5) demolished Clare on May 18th last:
Genealogy: Kellehers, Mausrower
I am researching my wife’s side of the family (Kelleher), and I am trying to determine the church in which they were baptized in the mid-late 1800s. The records I am able to access merely say “Parish-Rathmore” but not the actual name of the church. Millstreet appears in some of the old records.
I can go back as far as Denis Kelleher, b. 1833 and his wife Julia (no maiden name recorded). They lived in Mausrower and were farmers. Their son Michael Kelleher (b.1864, married Johanna Daly ca. 1890) ) was [read more …] “Genealogy: Kellehers, Mausrower”

by
Eily Buckley
Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a Cairde and welcome to News Report 1070 from Millstreet.
Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this nice seasonal Tuesday morning.
The beautiful weather over the weekend made all the difference to the many outdoor activities that were held around the area. The Corpus Christi parade was held through the town immediately after 11oclock Mass on Sunday. It was well attended. The Pipe band played and the choir sang at the Benediction at the Alter in the town Square.
PA provided as always by John A O Sullivan.
The choir is now on it’s Summer break and will resume in September.

Karen O’Connor’s “Between the Lines” Being Launched in Tralee Tomorrow
Gifted Poet, Karen O’Connor, formerly of Station Road, Millstreet we hope to meet tomorrow at 6.00 p.m. in Siamsa Tíre Theatre & Arts Centre, Town Park, Tralee when her book “Between the Lines” will be officially launched by the Mayor of Tralee, Gillian Wharton Slattery. This is just one of the many very uplifting comments on Karen’s first publication “Fingerprints” (2005):
“I think I’ll never forget reading “FINGERPRINTS (On Canvas)” for the first time. It was such a delight to discover a voice powered by a spirit of passionate celebration while at the same time confronting dark, difficult emotions, situations and ideas. This is a brilliant, humane, memorable book.”
Dr. Brendan Kennelly
Lots more information on Karen’s impressive achievements on her website http://www.karenoconnor.co.uk/ . We hope to upload a special feature on the launch in days to come. (S.R.)

Painting up high completed in St.Patricks Church
During the past few weeks St.Patrick’s Church in Millstreet has been painted from top to bottom. It was a massive undertaking and in particular getting all the scaffolding in place. As it came down during the week, I got a chance with permission, to climb to the highest vantage point for this picture.
