And a good morning to you, Patricia and welcome, dear Listeners tuned in on c103 and worldwide on the Internet, to Millstreet Regional Report No. 1069.

Mass was celebrated in the exquisite setting of Tubrid Holy Well last night by Fr. Paddy O’Byrne while Mass at very picturesque St. John’s Well at the foot of Mushera Mountain will take place on this Friday, 24th June at 8.00 p.m..

On that same night in Siamsa Tíre in Tralee at 6.00 p.m. the Mayor of Tralee, Gillian Wharton Slattery will officially launch Karen O’Connor’s book “Between the Lines”.   Gifted writer and poet, Karen is of course a native of Station Road, Millstreet.

The current issue of the very popular “Clara News” still only costing €1.00 is on sale since the weekend.

The results of this week’s Millstreet’s Local Lotto revealed the winning numbers as 27, 23, 3 and 9.  The Jackpot of €10,400.00 was not won.

€100.00 went to Elaine Cronin of Greenore, Co. Louth with the Seller’s Prize of €50.00 going to her Mum, Breeda Cronin of Priest’s Cross, Millstreet.
€50.00 went to Emma Coleman, Minor Row.
And €20.00 to each of the following:
Dylan O’Leary, The Square.
Cathal Sugrue c/o Patsy Mac.
Kevin O’Leary, Rathmore.
Liz Hickey, Clara Road.

Next week’s Draw will take place at the Tarrant’s Bridge Bar with a splendid Jackpot of €10,600.

A reminder now from our local Tidy Towns Association who wish to express sincere thanks to Millstreet Macra for their much appreciated help – In the anti-litter competition for local estates  McCarthy’s Terrace on Clara Road is being judged between 9th and 22nd June while Tanyard Wood Estate is being judged between 23rd June and 6th July.  And weather permitting, Thursday sees the group visiting Drishane View where residents are more than welcome to join in the continuing tidy areas project.

Millstreet Vintage Group presented two substantial cheques at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday night – the fruitful results of the recent Vintage Family Day held at Green Glens.  Matron Lena Kelleher accepted a cheque of €4,000.00 for St. Joseph’s Community Hospital, Millstreet while Mary Feeley expressed similar thanks for a further cheque of €4,000.00 for the Canon O’Donovan Centre in Clara Road, Millstreet.

Sunday next is going to be such a very busy day indeed.

This year’s Corpus Christi procession will take place immediately after 11.30a.m. Mass on Sunday 26th June.   The annual  Procession will begin at the superbly renovated St. Patrick’s Church and conclude with Benediction in the Square where the outdoor altar especially built for the occasion always looks so well.   All are invited to attend.

Aubane Social Club will also host its first Family Fun Day on next Sunday 26th June at 1pm.  Full details on the News Extra of www.millstreet.ie .

Meanwhile out in Carriganima on Sunday we have the Music Festival at the Pub co-ordinated by the very enterprising Seán Murphy & Matthew Neville.   This will feature open-air dancing from 3 to 6 p.m. and will introduce a wonderful galaxy of Country-and-Western D.J.s from “Your Friendly Radio Killaloe Internet Station” introduced by a less well known presenter!   We’re really looking forward to this special occasion.   A Disco for the Younger Folk will take place at the Pub on Saturday night from 10p.m. to midnight.

A Coffee Morning in aid of Cope Foundation will be held on this Friday, 24th June between 10.00a.m & 1.00p.m. in the local G.A.A. Community Hall. Your support would be very much appreciated.

The A.G.M. of the Le Chéile Group took place at Millstreet Parish Centre last night where many interesting issues were discussed.

The Cullen Young at Heart outing to Darby O’Gill’s, Killarney takes place on Thursday, 30th June.   Still a few seats left on the bus.   Please contact Joan if interested in joining the group for the enjoyable outing.

The International Space Station passed over Millstreet at approximately 29 minutes past midnight on Sunday night.   This amazing star-like sight which lasts for about two minutes as it quickly traverses the night sky will continue until 28th June.   It is THE most expensive object ever built by mankind and can be 100 brighter than the brightest star.ISS is also THE most expensive object every built by mankind.

Nora Burke from Kanturk presented a splendid programme of music at Millstreet’s Gramophone Circle on Friday night.   The will be no presentation during the month of July.

One of the many people present at Margaret Reen’s 100th Birthday celebrations at Green Glens was her Grandson, Commandant Tom Fox.  On the “Sunday Independent” marking Father’s Day there was a splendid interview and photograph on Tom, son of Peggy and Tom Fox, Rathmore as well as featuring his wife Aishling and Family. And, finally, a thought on which to ponder:  Lauren Bacall is reputed to have said “Imagination is the highest kite that one can fly.”

The following news item did not feature in the c103 broadcast but is as relevant as all the news that did.

Aubane Social Club will host its first Family Fun Day on Sunday 26th of June at 1pm.  This day promises to hold something for everyone.  There will be an art and craft fair which will exhibit all talented local produce, “Pirate Pete” the magician will be performing with Oscar the parrot – a display not to be missed.   There will be bouncing castles, face painting, “Mystic Myra Rose” the fortune teller who will reveal all, plenty of live music, best dressed lady competition sponsored by Noirín’s Boutique, ice-cream,  games galore for young and old and much, much more.  So come along with your family and friends to what promises to be a fantastic day and together we can celebrate the Summer in style!
