Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a Cairde and welcome to News Report 1070 from Millstreet.

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this nice seasonal Tuesday morning.

The beautiful weather over the weekend made all the difference to the many outdoor activities that were held around the area.   The Corpus Christi parade was held through the town  immediately after 11oclock Mass on Sunday. It was well attended. The Pipe band played and the choir sang at the Benediction  at the Alter in the town Square.

PA provided as always by John A O Sullivan.

The choir is now on it’s Summer break and will resume in September.

All scaffolding have now been removed from the interior of our  church. Newly painted,it looks beautiful and when complete,it will be a place of prayer that we can be truly proud of.

Aubane Social Club held their annual family fun day on Sunday in brilliant sunshine , in vast contrast to the foggy  conditions that prevailed for the Mass at St. Johns Well on June 24th, that turned the occasion into a rather eerie ,almost spooky experience. But still the crowds came as they always do.Their Family Fun day was a great success ,with the many novelties and challenges and prizes to be won. And they want to thank all those who helped in any way to make it the great event that is was.

Carriginma will never be the same again, following its first efforts to introduce open-air dancing. Again they were blessed with fine weather .There was a host of entertainers and musicians from far and near. The crowds also came in large numbers and went home full of the joys of the great event, and wanting more. So well done to the propietors, Seanie & Matt  for bringing an air of hope to this lovely little village and it’s people at a time when they thought there was no hope at all. You have to admire them.

Meanwhile the more adventurous headed for the Donegal  for the

Topaz International Rally where local crew men Daniel Lucey and  Connor O Flynn  encountered a  litany of  mishaps and mini  disasters which prevented them from making it first to the winning post.

But undaunted, they’re already planning their next event.

They have asked me to thank their many supporters who made the journey to Donegal to be  with them. Also the people from all over the world who encouraged them on Facebook etc. Their input is greatly appreciated.

A word here from Delores to say a million thanks to all those who supported the Coffee Morning which was held recently in aid of Cope, Mallow.

Our Tidy Towns Committee are under pressure as usual to keep Millstreet looking  good. They are pleading with people to stop throwing rubbish out of cars and throwing cigarette butts on the streets etc. They are always asking for more help and it’s a joy to hear that the local Marca Club has rowed in behind them, and are an inspiration to other clubs to do likewise. The litter campaign is on, and both Drishane Road and Tanyard Wood are to be inspected this week. Murphy’s Terrace fared well in the test and  all concerned are to be commended.
