by
Eily Buckley
Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1151 from Millstreet. Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this cold, icy, snowy, wintery Tuesday Morning.
This morning we send our best wishes to the lovely Sheila O Riordan formerly of Ballydaly and now at Teach Altra, on celebrating her 100th birthday. Her family and friends have planned a gala party to mark her big event, and we wish her continued health and happiness in the future.
All are invited to the Official opening of our E Centre in the Town Square on to-morrow Wednesday at 3.30 pm.
The Annual Machinery Show which was held at the Green Glens Arena for two days last week drew great crowds, and exhibitors were very pleased with the results. Local businesses also benefited from the extra crowds that it brought into town.
Next up at the same venue will be the spectacular Bride and Groom Show on February 9/10th.

In the Munster Dressing Room after Racing Metro victory
While some of us were lucky to get into the stands for Munster’s demolition of Racing Metro last weekend which qualified them for the quarter finals of the ERC Heineken Cup, Millstreet man Timmy Keane who is a media student at Limerick Institute of Technology was lucky enough to be in the Munster dressing room afterwards and shot the above video.

Superb Cullen Snowman Built by the Enthusiastic Fleming Family!
William Fitzgerald and I had just finished recording the first night of the Cullen & District Special Needs Association’s Annual Sponsored Weight Loss Programme when we were alerted to the amazing Snowman so magnificently built by the young members of the Fleming Family – with a little help from their next door neighbours. We walked up past Cullen Church on a night when the weather has been challenging. It was very worthwhile when you consider what a truly splendid scene might have [read more …] “Superb Cullen Snowman Built by the Enthusiastic Fleming Family!”

On The Boeing Swim 2013
In Brian Sullivan’s Mal Paso Pub in Millstreet a cheque presentation was made
To the Canon O Donovan Centre such kindness from the memory will not fade
From The Boeing New Year Swim close to four thousand euros this is not bad at all
In anyone’s language of money such an amount is not small
The organizers and sponsors and swimmers of the Boeing New Year Swim of themselves can feel proud
Of the praises of their achievements we ought to sing loud
To swim in the Blackwater in the depths of Winter seems quite daunting to me
That these are quite noble people would you not agree?
