Millstreet (Drishane) Coursing 1958

Many thanks to Siobhan who sent us a copy of this historic Millstreet Coursing Club meeting card. At the time the club was actually called Drishane Coursing Club and the meeting was held in the Tanyard Meadows, the field where Dairygold is located.

Eily’s Report – 4th June

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde, and welcome to my report.

We have to be thankful that our  Bank Holiday weekend went off with no injuries nor traffic accidents to report, in spite of heavy traffic and the silage season in full swing. Buíochas le Dia.

The highlight of the weekend of course was the landing of

Irish Community Rapid Response(ICRR)

Air Ambulance Helicopter in our Town Park on Sunday afternoon.  Members of the service were on hand to explain details of the service and all were invited into the grounds to get a closer look at the beautiful shiny yellow bird which will be based at Rathcoole as soon as the Government gives  it their final sanction. And we are all asked to lobby the Minister for Health, Mr. Simon Harris and urge him to give the service the official go-ahead as soon as possible.

The landing was backed up by a convoy of HDV, which formed a semi circle around the helicopter. There was a lively question and answer session and details of every aspect of  the interior of the craft were explained as well as running costs etc.

Based at Rathcoole Aerodrome ICRR are a charity committed to providing safe, effective and timely emergency medical care to those seriously ill or injured in Ireland through the provision of a network of Volunteer Doctors, RR Vehicles and a dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical  Service (HEMS)that are tasked through the 999/112 call system .
