Millstreet “Tóstal” of the 1950s

We thank Margaret and John Kelleher of Mount Leader, Millstreet for sharing with us a wonderful historic image of the Tóstal in Millstreet c.1957 where a very large number of Pipe Bands visited Millstreet on the occasion.  I was six years old and can recall the huge excitement there was throughout the town and of course the splendid musical sound of the various Bands.  Our image from a Ballybunion publication shows the Ballybunion Pipe Band pictured at The Square, Millstreet.  Please note Tom Radley’s Forge with the wheel against the front wall.   Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)
