Busy August for Millstreet Pipe Band

Millstreet Pipe Band were given the honour of leading the 60th Rose Parade at the Rose of Tralee on Saturday night. The band played at the first parade in 1959 & have continued that tradition down through the years.
The band were given a rousing reception as the parade passed the reviewing stages in Tralee & a special mention was given to current committee members Liam Coffey & Tim O’Shea who played at the first Rose Parade in 1959.
The Pipe Band then played at the annual Michael Collins commemoration in Beál na mBláth on Sunday where economist Jim Power gave the oration. Another longstanding event for the pipe band & they received a warm welcome as they played in glorious sunshine.

Cork 3-20 Galway 3-14
(after extra time)

Congratlations to Darragh Cashman and Luke Murphy who played superbly yesterday, helping Cork to win their first All-Ireland Minor Football title in nineteen years. Darragh had a fine game from wing back, scoring points either side of half time, while Luke came on after 51 minutes, and held his nerve to score a superb crucial point to draw Cork level when time in the second half was nearly up. Two brilliant lads, they’re the first locals to win a minor since Seanie Barrett won with Cork in 1991.
