Success for Local Rally Crews at the West Cork Rally

Last weekends West Cork Rally produced some great results for some of our local crews that made the trip to Clonakilty to compete in what was a very tough and challenging Event, there was Success for Mike P Kelleher/Eoghan McCarthy who emerged victorious in Class 10 in there Mark2 Escort, there were also some great performances from other local Crews including Darren Cremin/Liam Dennehy who finished 2nd in Class 11F, Denis O`Brien/Ryan O`Brien Opel Corsa who finished 4th in Class 10 who in turn were followed home by Kevin Hickey/Derry Healy in there Ford Escort with 5th in Class 10, and Denis Buckley/Jason Buckley who finished 7th in Class 10,unfortunately there was no luck for Don Moynihan/Kevin Murphy Ford Escort who were back after a long lay off from the Sport but retired with Mechanical Woes on Sunday while luck also deserted Derry Collins/Stephen Collins in there Class 9 Vauxhall Nova, and Derry Long/John Joe Williams in the Junior Section who both failed to make the finish, also local Co-Driver Declan Casey was calling the notes for Cavan Man Kevin Cole in a Ford Escort but luck also deserted them when they retired on Sunday with Mechanical Problems. The Event was won by Donagh Kelly/Conor Foley in there Ford Focus WRC who took a record breaking fifth consecutive victory, Josh Moffett/Andy Hayes Ford Fiesta were second overall and won the hotly contested R5 catagory,Gary Kiernan/Ryan Moore in there Proton won the National Section,Owen Murphy won the Historic section in his Talbot Sunbeam and Gary McNamee in his Honda Civic was the top Junior Competitor.Frequent changeable weather during the Event made for very challenging driving conditions with very Cold Conditions and even some Snow making the going quite interesting but as always Cork Motor Club led by Greg McCarthy and his hard working Team which included Danny Creedon/Michael O`Riordan Subaru and Conor Falvey Porsche performing 00 Sweeper Duties along the Route Ran a Top Class Rally which was enjoyed by both Competitors and Spectators alike.
