Millstreet Celtic lost 1-0 to Glenvale in Regional Park this morning. Glenvale started the game well and were in control for the first 15 mins. They created a few half chances which keeper John Lehane dealt with comfortably. We came into the game a bit more after 20 mins but were caught for the opening goal after half an hour. We started to press more for the remainder of the 1st half but didn’t create enough chances. In the 2nd half we were into our stride much faster and had a couple of chances through Tadhg Collins and Michal Maciasz. Glenvale were dangerous on the break but for the last 20 mins it was constant pressure on their goals. Mike Murphy flashed a shot just wide, Barry Lawlor had another tipped over by the keeper and Paul Dawson had a header 10 mins to go. We kept pushing but couldn’t find the equalizer we felt we deserved. Best for us on the day were Donal O Sullivan and Darek Sroka.
Team: John Lehane, Donal O Sullivan, Tim Kiely, Michal Maciasz, Eamon O Keeffe, Darek Sroka, Michael Murphy, Barry Lawlor, Eric Hickey, Tadhg Collins, Paul Dawson
Subs: Trevor O Connor (60th min), Finbarr Corcoran (65th min), Adrian O Connor, Chris Cleary

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to news report 1077 from Millstreet.
Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this damp but mild Tuesday morning.
Well our Millstreet Summer Horse Show is over and we can clock up yet
another outstanding event in the history of the renowned Green Glens
Complex. There was no mention of the Celtic Tiger, no shortage of entries
and even no shortage of fine weather. On opening day there was a massive
8,000 entries on the books with many more re-entering during the week.
Our Show came fast on the heels of the Dublin Show and the comparisons were
staggering. Stabling alone here was little more than half the cost while
parking of horse boxes which cost €1800 in Dublin were free of charge
here, the list goes on. And prize money just couldn’t be compared. One
man told me he won a competition in Dublin for which he got €150 , a
similar one here was â, €6,000. Admission was free throughout the five
days and people and families came and enjoyed it all to the full. As well
as the Cian O Connors and Francis Connors and other famous riders who
continue to grace our show.

Millstreet Museum & Tourist Information Centre Church Gate Collection takes place this weekend – 13th & 14th August 2011 – outside St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet. This is our main source of funding for the year. It is earnestly hoped that we shall be back at our Carnegie Hall location very shortly. Most of our Archives have now been moved to the new purpose built Museum Archive Centre at Mount Leader. We deeply appreciate the fact that the vast volume of our historic material was very kindly housed on a temporary basis and without cost by the Duggan Family of Green Glens for almost the past three years. Support for our Collection this weekend would be greatly appreciated so as to assist us in the re-establishment of our Museum at Carnegie Hall and for the provision of a significant Tourist Information Centre. Sincere thanks. (S.R.)
