Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde, and welcome to my report.
Its all systems go here in Millstreet today as we head into a feast of equestrian events. Starting tomorrow Wednesday, August 14 to 18 with the Millstreet International Horse Show (cs12) Followed close behind by the Millstreet International Horse Trials.starting three days later. And we’ve already had a head start with our Nick Pomeroy winning a first at the Dublin Show last week, with Clara Alala.
Entries for this weeks event are up 20 percent on last year and will bring contestants from New Zealand, Canada ,USA, Great Britain and Ireland,to name but a few. Already the mega Horse Carriers are thundering into town on their way to the mighty Green Glens where there is stabling for up to two thousand horses and hundreds of places for their carriers. Many of them comprising of luxury accommodation for their owners.
So please get ready to give them the customary Millstreet welcome. Hang out your flags to greet the visiting countries . Well done to those who have already painted their places and put up window boxes and keep the town litter free. The extra seating around the town adds an air of hospitality and ease to the whole scene.
There is great need for accommodation so please if you have some to offer ring the office at the Green Glens 029 70800 or stick up a B&B sign for all to see.
And be ready for more of the same when the Millstreet International Horse Trials kicks off the Wednesday of next week. The World Class Events Course at Drishane will swing into action for this prestigious event. Please go along to these International events and as usual. Admission is free throughout.
We wish the Duggan Family God’s Blessing, fair weather and every success with this mega undertaking.
So go along and give this great venture your full support and the good news is that admission is free throughout.
