Vote for Eric’s Ballydesmond photo

Result: Eric’s photo won with 36% of the vote 🙂

SportsJOE have a competition as to who had the best amateur GAA images of 2016. From the middle-aged dad contemplating one more time round the GAA sun, to the fan asleep in the ditch, the umpire taking snaps in a blizzard or the TV-watching lamb.

Our own Eric Hickey is one of the final twelve with his photo that was “Taken April in Ballydesmond while I was umpire”.

He needs your votes to win the prize, so go to SportsJOE and vote for the “Ballydesmond Blizzard”. (He’s not doing too bad at the moment with 40% of the vote already).

The final countdown is on for the Birthday celebrations of Our Blessed Lord on Christmas Day, December 25th and everybody is making a  dash to get everything done, before time runs out. Please continue to shop at home. The list of gifts ideas in our town this Christmas is amazing, and the traders are pleased with the support they are getting.

So keep up the good work.

The 26th Edition of Seanchas  Duhalla was launched at the Credit Union during the week, adding yet another lovely book to the list of new books that a out for this Christmas, and they are all on sale at Wordsworth.

A very pleasant function was held at the Aubane Social Centre at 5pm on Sunday evening, at which a Plaque was unveiled in memory of all the local people who gave their lives for their country a hundred years ago.

All those involved in helping the poor, are very busy , to collect food, raise funds and find out who is in need,  in the closing days of this week.

Everybody is asked to keep an eye out for those who are in need in their area, to make sure that nobody is left out. People who are in need are asked to make their problem known to those in charge.

Our Members of St V de Paul are always at the ready to help.
