Eily’s Report – 20th December

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a Cairde and welcome to my final report of 2016.

The final countdown is on for the Birthday celebrations of Our Blessed Lord on Christmas Day, December 25th and everybody is making a  dash to get everything done, before time runs out. Please continue to shop at home. The list of gifts ideas in our town this Christmas is amazing, and the traders are pleased with the support they are getting.

So keep up the good work.

The 26th Edition of Seanchas  Duhalla was launched at the Credit Union during the week, adding yet another lovely book to the list of new books that a out for this Christmas, and they are all on sale at Wordsworth.

A very pleasant function was held at the Aubane Social Centre at 5pm on Sunday evening, at which a Plaque was unveiled in memory of all the local people who gave their lives for their country a hundred years ago.

All those involved in helping the poor, are very busy , to collect food, raise funds and find out who is in need,  in the closing days of this week.

Everybody is asked to keep an eye out for those who are in need in their area, to make sure that nobody is left out. People who are in need are asked to make their problem known to those in charge.

Our Members of St V de Paul are always at the ready to help.

Here are the results of this weeks parish Lotto draw which was held at Tarrants Bar on Sunday night

Numbers drawn were , 9,13,17,28. and the Jackpot was not won.

€100 went to Richie Culinane Snr. The seller was Tommy Tucker and he got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Eamonn Sheahan, Annabella, €20 each Eily P. Dromsicane, Sylvia Murphy, Drishane Rd, Angela McAulliffe, MountLeader, Denis Cotter, Liscahane, Joan Wall, Station Rd. Kathleen Healy ,Mt leader, Donal Cronin, Knocknakilla,  and Andy the Gates, Rathmore. Next Draw will be at the Bush Bar on Sunday, January 15th 2017, with a Jackpot  of  €8.000.

 

At Sunday nights draw the Chairman Mr Noel Buckley, thanks the public for their continued support  and wished them all a very happy Christmas.

 

 

A lovely Chistmas Party was held at Drishane Castle on Friday night last. The Community singers  attended and the residents took part.  Refreshments were served and Christmas greetings exchanged to bring a lovely event to a close.

 

Please let care and safety be a priority this Christmas. Drive with Care, slow down and don’t drink and Drive.

A note here from Marie at the Community Council advising people, who have not already signed up to the Garda Text Alert System, that they can do so by calling in to Wordsworth Book Store in Millstreet or Guerins Shop in Ballydaly.

The Church Calendar for 2017 is available free of charge in the Church.

 

LTV2  have recorded  their Christmas program, and it can be seen on UTube later in the week.

 

 

Penitential Services will be held in our Parish Church tonight, December 20th starting at 7.30 pm. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 7.30 to 8.30. Visiting Priests will be available for confessions.

 

Penetial Services will be held in Dromagh Church on December 21st, from 7.30.

 

At Masses last Sunday Canon John ,extended a warm welcome to all those who are coming home or just visiting for Christmas. He wished them a Happy Christmas and a pleasant stay.

 

Our Christmas Eve Mass will be at 10pm.    Christmas Morning at 8.30 & 11.30 .

 

In Cullen on Christmas Eve at 7.30pm and Christmas Morning at 10.15.

 

Ballydaly Christmas Morning at 9am.

 

The Annual Church Restoration Collection will be held at all Masses at the Weekend.

 

Our Town is looking lovely and colourful, and well done to all those who have put so much effort to make their homes so bright and cheerful for Christmas.

 

It only remains for me now to wish you all a very Happy Christmas. Be aware of the needs of those around you and bear in mind that the best way to be Happy,   is to Make Someone Happy. God Bless you all.
