Eily’s Report – 17th October

Dia is Mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to my report.

Its October 17th the day after the biggest shut-down that this country has ever known, and relative calm has been restored. Buíochas le Dia. It was  pretty scary in the days beforehand, as we watched it being displayed on our screens, with a huge swirling red alert approaching us .

Its early in the day yet but I think all things considered, that we came out lightly, given the picture that we had in mind. Goodness knows the authorities at every level, did a great job in warning us of what may be in store, and with everything closed down it brought traffic to a halt, which was a great help in keeping people safe. And the minute by minute coverage by the media was invaluable.

The loss of life was extremely low, but even so it was regrettable that three people lost their lives countrywide. Our sympathy goes to the people of Kilcorney whose lovely parish Church became victim of the great storm. [read more …] “Eily’s Report – 17th October”
