A record breaking 4 in a row for O’Riordan in the Cork ’20’

Daragh O’Riordan & Tony McDaid took a record breaking fourth consecutive win on the AceSigns Cork 20 International Rally based in Millstreet this weekend. The event which was the final round of the 2014 Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish  Tarmac Rally Championship saw O’Riordan win by a margin of over a minute from a hard charging Keith Cronin / Marshall Clarke in second place who were debuting their Citroen DS3 R5 car.

With the championship already won by the non-competing Declan & Brian Boyle in their Subaru Impreza WRC, second place was up for grabs between Monaghan siblings Sam and Josh Moffett in their Fiesta WRC and Mitsubishi Lancer respectively. Stormy weather this evening

2014-10-05 High winds for this eveningThe first storm of the winter is coming towards us this evening. The winds have started to pick up already, but by tonight the gusts will be very strong. Be careful and tie down anything that could fly … like trampolines 😉

Put into context, devastating storm of last February had gusts of 65mph around here,so it’s not going to be terrible.

Millstreet 1-11 Kilmurray 0-10. Match Report

2014-10-04 Millstreet v Kilmurray - programme front page-600Hopes were high amongst spectators from both sides in Macroom last night as Millstreet took on Kilmurray in the County Junior Football Championship for a place in the final in three weeks time. Kilmurray were tipped as favourites for the county even before they got out of Muskerry, while Millstreet were hoping to repeat see some of the fine form that saw them win Duhallow and the grit and determination that saw them beat Glenbower in the last round.
It was the first championship match played under the new lights in Macroom GAA pitch, and conditions were lovely – calm and a cool 8C, but the rain during the day and the muggy conditions was going to lead to slippery conditions during the game. As ever in Macroom there were lots of traffic jams and parking problems before the match, as a very large attendance from both sides came to cheer their side, and there was a real atmosphere of anticipation.
From before the match it was apparent that the Kilmurray lads were physically bigger than the Millstreet lads, but it’s something Millstreet teams have had to adapt to got years so we we figured it wouldn’t be a problem.
