This Sunday evening on Where the road take me, John Greene goes on a virtual Journey to Newmarket, where he discovers a high octane start to the War of Independence one hundred years ago in the area. 

Local historian and author Donie Murphy outlines the background to murders, reprisals and houseburnings, as we take a closer look at both the Tooreengaraibh and Meelin ambushes of January 1921.

We also hear how the spoils of war enabled one group of IRA volunteers make it to the Church on time.
