Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a Cairde and welcome to News report 1224 from Millstreet. Fondest Greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely Summery Tuesday morning the first Day of July.

The month of June went very fast, because it brought some beautiful sunny weather which raised al our spirits. People went about their work with a light heart, happy in the knowledge that the sun that greeted them at dawn was still shining at the end of the day. We had lots of outdoor pursuits by way of team games and organised walks.

The Willie Neenan Memorial 10k walk was very well supported on Friday evening and supporters had the town decorated with bunting etc for it which added to the atmostphere.

There was lots of Millstreet support for the Shane Dennehy Walk in Rathmore on Sunday, in aid of Suicide Awareness.

Further to that, families took advantage of the sunny weekend to go on picnics and trips to the seaside. And thankfully everything went well with any injury or loss of life.

The Sun shone on Cloghoula National School on Thursday for their annual Mass and BBQ before closing for the Summer Holidays.

And no less than seven priests officiated the annual Mass at scenic St John’s Well on Tuesday night, again in beautiful sunshine. And the dance that followed at the Platform in Mushera went on till late.Well done to all concerned.

Our Town featured prominently on the current issue of the Irish Catholic Newspaper. When lots of pictures of our Corpus Christy caught the eye of their correspondent. It was very gratifying, as our Parade was well up on other years. And the newly painted houses and decorated windows showed our town off to the best advantage. So you never know who is watching. See the pictures on the website.

And talking of painting, the painting of our town is moving along steadily. Lots of Walls and gables and businesses are looking as new .Thanks to the combined efforts of all the helpers.

It continues again this week and everybody is asked to come out and keep up the good work.
