First Millstreet Town Park Committee Honoured and Remembered

To honour and remember the first Millstreet Town Park Committee members (and also people who have contributed so much to the care of the Town Park over many years) a special plaque has recently been put in place at Millstreet Town Park. This gesture is so very appropriate in that those wonderfully community-spirited people in the Ireland of the 1950s were so supremely far-seeing and conscious of what a magnificent setting like our Town Park (within our town) would mean for future generations. And how right they were! What a truly exquisite amenity we have in our town. Very special credit is due not only to the early pioneers of this great project and who are recalled on the impressive plaque but also to the present-day Town Park Committee. We thank Jerry Lehane for alerting us to this most deserving of monuments which is now permanently in place at the Town Park. Long may future generations enjoy such a marvellous environmental gem.
