The month of January is ending in a flurry of group socials, A.G.M.’s and fundraisers for good causes and it looks like the month of February is about to start  on the same theme. The A.G.M. of our Community Council will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Tuesday February 12th, starting at 8pm sharp.  New members welcome.

Last Tuesday nights meeting  of the Community Council was attended by representatives from the Men’s Shed and the Active Retired Group who are in the process of installing a Bowls Rick in the town. To start them off  the Council presented them with a cheque for  €1,500.  It will be a first for Millstreet and the organisers are inviting opinions and advise from the public to help them on their way.  Contact Bertie at 087 6793841. The annual Church Gate Collection in aid of The Day Care Centre will be held this weekend February 2/3 rd. Please support it well. And be reminded of all the great services that the Centre has to offer every day. Meals in or delivered, nursing care, physiotherapy, entertainment, to name just a few. Please give them a call at 029 70926 for full details of their wonderful services. 

 

45 Drive is held there every Tuesday night from 8.30 and all are welcome. Admission €7. The proceeds go to the Centre Fund.

 

The Aubane Social Club will present the proceeds of their Christmas Day Climb of Mushera Mountain to  representatives  of the Irish Air Ambulance Service on Thursday February 7th at 8 pm. And all are welcome including those who did the climb on the day.

 

The weekly Weigh In continues in Cullen every Monday night. Last night 50 weighed in and 70 pounds were lost. They have a jiving session every week after the weighing.  All are welcome.

 

A correction from my report last week when I said that our Senior quiz team won the All Ireland final.  Well it was a little bit lower than that but its a good omen, and we wish them every success in their climb to the top.

 

Well done to our own Breda O’Leary, who looked stunning following her lovely Make Over on the Maura and Daithi show on RTÉ during the week.

 

The Marian Players are packing them in  for their annual Panto in Rathmore. They opened on Saturday night staged a matinee on Sunday, and they’re doing it all again on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday this week , finishing with a gala matinee on Sunday next.  Some tickets are still available for Wednesday night. But the others are mostly sold out. And its all in aid of the Kerry Parents and Friends Fund. So Please support them well.

 

Table Quiz in aid of four fifth year students who are going to Lourdes as helpers at Easter with the Irish Pilgrimage Trust, will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on this Friday night February 1st,starting at 8pm sharp. €40 per table of four. Please support it well.

 

Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes opens in Knocknagree on Sunday Next February 3rd, It will be held daily at 8 pm and will include Mass, homily and Novena Prayers.

Our Camogie Club held their annual Social at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Saturday night and they are holding their A.G.M. on Monday February 4th in the Parish Centre. [photos 1, photos 2, thank you]

 

Cork Mental Health Foundation would like to thank all those who supported their recent Church Gate Collection which amounted to €1,054.50.

 

Our Morning Mass at 10 am on Wednesday will be a special Mass for grandparents.  Children of the Presentation School will attend and grandparents will be invited for refreshments with them after.

 

Friday is the feast of St. Bridget, Mass at 7.30 pm .

 

Saturday February 2nd is Candlemas Day and candles for use on the alter for the coming year will be blessed at the vigil mass at 6.30.

 

Here are the results of the weeks lotto draw which was held at  the Clara Inn on Sunday Night, were 11,13,16,27, and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Colin and Patrick Healy, c/o Dan. The seller was the Clara Inn and they got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Nora Sheehan, Knocknagree, €20 each to Lisa, Declan  and Libby,  Andy the Gates, Rathmore, Alan the Buck, c/o The Mal Paso. Margaret and Paddy Roche, Drishane, Margaret Smith. Murphy’s Tce, Buckleys Oakrock. Denis Tucker, Killarney and Jurker Klopp c/o the Mal Paso.      The next draw will be at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.

 

Eucharistic Adoration open every Tuesday and Wednesday in Millstreet from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm and in Cullen on Thursday .Confessions in Millstreet every Sat. From 12.30 to 1.
