This evening Ear to the Ground (RTÉ ONE) had a feature from Millstreet: “Darragh McCullough explores the National Dairy Show in Millstreet, Co Cork, where he meets the Murphys who stay up all night to keep their cows and calves clean for the parade ring.”
It’s an interesting look at what goes on behind the scenes at a dairy show – from leading them, feeding them, keeping them clean, washing, clipping, and blowdrying them, and even hair extensions. See the show on the RTÉ Player (from 15:54 to the end of the programme).

This video of juggling in slow motion from the EJC2014 in Millstreet is just way too cool.
This is Millstreet International Horse Show week and it starts today (Tuesday 12th) at 10:30am. Horse Trucks and Horseboxes have been rolling into the Green Glens since the gates opened yesterday morning.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. There’s a few showers forecast every day, but nothing too serious.
A visit to the Millstreet Horse Show is unmissable for the equestrian fanatic. Enjoy a day out watching the country’s best horses and riders. Admission is FREE and there is ample car parking available.
Jerry & Tim who are two of the most dedicated members of the Millstreet Fundraising Project for Marymount Hospice have already raised in excess of €2,000.00 for the wonderfully praiseworthy Fund and are pictured here at the recent Newmarket Show which was held in Green Glens. Their most recent very successful fundraiser took place on Friday night at the open air dancing in Mushera where many people especially from the Ballinagree area were very supportive of the Project. Tickets continue to sell well. If you wish to support the Fund we have tickets here at Millstreet Museum or you may very well see Jerry and Tim with their mobile stand at an event before the closing date on Friday, 24th Oct. when the occasion of the Draw takes place at the Pub in Carriganima. Dr. Pat Casey also has tickets for sale for the Project. Click on the images to enlarge. (S.R.)
