The merry Month of May is now in full swing, Already the Duhallow Bealtaine Festival has worked its way through the Dawn Mass at the source of theBlackwater, evening Mass at The Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tooreencahil.

Rambling House Session at Foyle School and in Millstreet the enchanting Choral Festival at Drishane Castle. Coffee Morning in aid of Alzheimers, The Mighty Dawn Chorus at Castlemagner. To name but a few.

Next here in Millstreet will be the Bealtaine Fest Table Quiz on tomorrow Wednesday night. It will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel Starting at 8pm. Tables of four €20. This proved a very enjoyable event last year so don’t miss it.

And still with the Bealtaine Fest, On this very day a two weeks training course on the use of the IPad Tablet starts at the James O Keeffe Institute. You may still be on time to join. Ring them right away 029 60633.

This evening it being the 6th of May is Dromtarriffe Day and they’re having Mass at their Holy Well at 8pm. And in keeping with the old traditions you are invited to place a piece of ribbon or rag on the nearby hawthorn tree , to stave off sickness and misfortune. The Dromtarriffe Active Retired Group invite you to their Community Centre afterwards for refreshments and music by local musicians. A great night is guaranteed.

 

Craft Making workshops will be held at the James O’Keefffe Institute on every Tuesday in May Starting today .from 11 to 1 each time.

Always in month of May, Our Holy Tubrid Well becomes the centre of Prayer and Holiness with people coming from far and near to pay their rounds on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and ending with Confession & Holy Communion at the weekend. Outside of that worshippers come at any time to pray.

The Annual Mass will be celebrated there on Friday May 30th at 8pm.

 

Our Community Singers will attend the Vigil Mass on this Saturday evening May 10th.

 

Legion of Mary Meeting at the Sacracity tonight and every Tuesday Night starting at 8,and all are welcome.

 

The Annual Cloghoula National School Pattern Day will be held on Sunday May 18th ,Starting at 1. All the usual attractions.

 

Cullen Young at Heart meeting to-night at 7.30 .

 

Home-help meeting on This Thursday night May 8th at 6pm in the GAA Hall.

A million Congratulations to all at the Highiest Pub in Ireland , the Top of Coom who re-opened their popular business recently following extensive renovations due to fire damage.

 

A word from our local Library to say that their Book Club called PageTurners ,led by Katie & Norma Griffin will be open on Saturday May 17th from 12noon to 1, suitable for 10-12 yr olds.

Our Countryside is festooned with posters in the run-up to the County Council elections. Please be wise a vote for the person that you know in your own area who will work best for you. The day is long gone for us to blindly follow the Party.

 

A large amount of cash, all in Punts was mysteriously , left behind a Statue in our church some months ago and following its conversion into Euro it has yielded € 16,000.This money will go to our restoration Fund. May God reward the anonymous donor.

A note to say that Church Gate Collections in aid of the Cork North/West Branch of MS will be held this weekend May 10/11th at Tower and Newmarket. Please support them well.

 

The weekly lotto draw was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel last night. Numbers drawn were 14, 21, 22, 25 and the Jackpot was not won.

€100 went to Jerry Reardon, Millwheel restaurant, He was also the seller and got €50 sellers prize.

The AGM of our Pitch n Putt Club will be held at the GAA Hall on Friday May 16th.and not on the Saturday as previously announced.

This Tuesday evening Millstreet play Lismire in the Junior B Football
League in Millstreet at 8pm.

Tomorrow, Millstreet are away to Dromtariffe in the Junior A Hurling League at 7:15pm.
