 Fondest Greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this
lovely Spring morning, with the birds singing and busy building their nests.

Following a very enjoyable trip to the Late Late Show in Dublin, on Friday night last  with  five members of LTV2 crew.  We want you to know that, Ryan Tubridy and his researcher Michael Keeley,  send their love and best wishes to all in Millstreet and beyond. They extended a great welcome to us and recalled happy memories of their visit to Millstreet over 13years ago.

The annual Church Gate collection in aid of Cope Mallow will be taken up in Millstreet, Ballydaly and Cullen this weekend. March 17/18th. Please support it well.

All hands are on deck this week in preparation for St Patrick’s Day on Saturday March 17th. Our Parade in Millstreet will start at the usual time of 5pm. And our Parish Priest Canon John FitzGerald has kindly changed the time of the vigil Mass from 6.30 to 7.

More and more people are asked to please come out and take part. From all the fancy dress dances that have been held in recent years, there should be no scarcity of bright and cheerful things to wear.

All floats and people taking part, please assemble at Dairygold yard, before 4.30. There are  prizes for the different categories and sweets and treats for the children. Music by Comhaltas on the reviewing stand and both Cullen and Millstreet pipe bands in the Parade.

Next day Sunday March 18th the Carriginma Parade will be held through the village from 3pm. Again all floats, groups and bands are welcome to come and take part.  There will be bouncing castles face painting for the children and music by the Kelt plus a few surprises for the ladies for
Mothers Day.

Rathmore held their St Patrick’s Day Parade last Sunday March 11th , and with great success. With a fine in-put from Millstreet.

Our own Annmarie O Riordan will be in concert at the Kenmare Bay Hotel on St. Patrick’s night, March 17th.

Our Juvenile GAA Club will host a  Table Quiz at the GAA Hall on Friday night March 16th from 7-9.30, complete with parental supervision.

Later on at 9 that night Los Zargus FC will host a monster Table Quiz at Tarrants Bar .Tables €20 ,cash prizes plus  raffles and Spots.

Monday March 19th next marks the last night of yet another fundraising Weigh-In in Cullen. All card holders are asked to please bring in all cards and monies raised by that night so that the organisers can wind up the venture, which they say has been the most successful and best attended ever. They want to thank all those who helped in any way to make it the great success that it was in aid of those with Special Needs.

Still with fundraising Daffodil Day is celebrating its 25th birthday this year. The Countrywide event, in aid of the Irish Cancer Society will be held on Friday March 23rd. So look out for it in your area. It takes place
in the GAA Hall in Millstreet that day organised as always by Mary FitzGerald.

Be on the lookout for our next Walking Festival here in Millstreet. On April 14/15. and the return of the mighty Monster MAC on April 28th.

Out at the Glen Theatre on this Friday & Sunday nights March 16 and 18, the Banteer Drama Group will stage their wonderful comedy The Wife’s Family starting each night at 8.30. It’s too good to miss. 02956239.

The Aubane Historical Society have a new book out in the Millstreet Miscellany range, and this is number 7  and is an interesting extension of the many accounts of events  that were included in previous editions. Its on sale at Wordsworth Bookstore  at €10.

The AGM of Aubane Social Club will be held on Tuesday March 20th at 8.30.

Millstreet Macra are hoping to organise a bus to the Scor Sinsear Munster final in Templemore on Saturday 31st March in support of their members taking part.

If anyone would be interested in supporting the three groups (novelty act, tra na gceist and recitation) competing in the final from the Millstreet area could they contact Niamh at 0873684138 as the bus and tickets for the final have to be booked in advance.

Community Council meeting to-night at the Wallis Arms Hotel at 9.

A very important Public meeting about the future of our Ambulance Service will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on this Thursday March 15th. at 5pm. Please note the time and do please attend, for all our sakes.

Bingo in Banteer to-night with €9,500 in prize money plus Super Valu mini hampers for you to win.

Millstreet overcame Knocknagree in the Ducon Cup on Sunday. Coming up Millstreet play Croke Rovers in the Duhallow U21 Football Championship. And on St. Patricks morning, Millstreet become the first Cork club to participate in the All Ireland Seachtain na Gaeilge Table Quiz at Croke Park.

Millstreet hosted a semi final of the County Scor na Paisti last Sunday.And Club participants also enjoyed success at the Duhallow Scor Scoriocht Finals  in Dromagh Hall.

And the success continued in the Munster Senior Scor semi finals in Tallow on Saturday night, St.Johns represented by John O’Sullivan in recitation enjoyed a triumph as did Millstreet Novelty Act and question time. All three progress to the Munster Final in Templemore on Saturday, March 31.

Here are the results of this weeks parish Lotto draw which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night .

  1. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TIME OF THE JUVENILE GAA QUIZ HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 8.30PM- 10.30PM. THIS IS STRAIGHT AFTER THE VIGIL MASS. WE HOPE TO SEE A LARGE CROWD SUPPORTING THIS FUNDRAISER. Thanks
