Millstreet GAA Club held their Prizegiving night at the Wallis Arms last weekend. While a great night was had, a number of awards were given to players who excelled during the year, and to club members who have given hugely of their time and effort to the club:
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR:
From a list of potential candidates , the vision and authority that our dual recipient brought to his game on the field culminated with an immense display that helped Millstreet regain the Duhallow U21 Football Championship crown after a 20 year lapse.
Equally adapt in both hurling and football merits Michael Vaughan a deserving recipient of the inaugural Tadhg Moynihan Memorial Trophy.

CLUB PLAYER OF THE YEAR:
Our recipient has shown his versatility to deliver a series of polished and immense performances that decorated the 2011 playing season. The inspirational figure brought stability to defence and picking out colleagues with precision like passing confirms the talents of an exceptional dual player. That’s recognised on gaining selection on divisional and county hurling teams.
The prestigious honour of club player of the year and the 2011 holder of the Perpetual Trophy sponsored by Coleman’s is Mark Ellis.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT:
The Award recognises a huge contribution to managing an inter county team. Our recipient’s enthusiasm and dedication guided Cork to its only All Ireland Football title in 2011. His knowledge gathered on the field that gathered sucess for club, division and county was key to Cork displaying a spirited effort to capture the All Ireland Junior Football Championship title for the 16h occasion after defeating Kildare after extra time.
Our special Achievement recipient is Niall Kelleher.
