Millstreet Celtic 4 UCC A 1

We beat UCC 4-1 in the park this morning to register our second league win in a row. We started well and had a chance in the 1st min when Paul Dawson played in Barry Lawlor who shot just wide. We kept the pressure up and got the opener after 10 mins. Lawlor swung in a corner which was met by Tadhg Collins. His header was blocked on the line but Dawson was waiting to slot home the rebound. Just 5 mins later we were two ahead. Good work on the wing from Brian Murphy saw the ball fed inside the box to Michael Murphy who cut back and curled a great shot to the far corner. We had more chances but it was UCC who got the next goal after a scramble in the box. The second half was a bit scrappier at times but we still had a number of chances to extend our lead. Collins had a header just off target and John Lehane just failed to get on the end of a Collins knock down. UCC threatened at times but we made the game safe with just 5 mins remaining. Lehane played the ball up the line to Collins who nutmegged two defenders before rounding the keeper and tapping home. Collins got hia 2nd of the day a minute later after being played in by Lawlor. Best on the day were John Lehane, Brian Murphy and Eamon O Keeffe.

Team: Piotr Oziast, Donal O Sullivan, Eamon O Keeffe, Tim Kiely, John Lehane, Paul Dawson, Brian Murphy, Danny O Riordan, Michael Murphy, Barry Lawlor, Tadhg Collins

Subs: Finbarr Corcoran (60th min), Adrian O Connor, Donagh Murphy

  1. Good news. 2 in a row. Try and keep it going. The league is shaping up to be pretty tight from 5th place down. I think a top half finish would be great for 1st year back in Div 1A.
