Remembering RMS Titanic on “Where the Road Takes Me” This Sunday at 7pm on C103

We thank Presenter, John Greene for advance information on this Sunday evening’s very interesting programme.  (S.R.)

This coming Monday April 15th, marks the anniversary of one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters – the sinking of the RMS Titanic.

On Where the road takes me this Sunday evening, John Greene travels to Ballydesmond to hear the story of Danny Buckley who survived the sinking.

However, Danny’s luck ran out on the battlefields of World War one, when a sniper’s bullet ended his life, just a few short days before the war had ended.

At the American wake in Ballydesmond the night before he departed on the Titanic, Danny stood and sang ‘When the fields are white with daisies’.

On the day of his repatriation to his home village, mourners at his graveside noticed that the fields surrounding the cemetery, were indeed ‘white with daisies.

‘Danny Buckley – Titanic Survivor – Victim of War’, – this Sunday evening on Where the road takes me at 7 on C103.
