Before the year draws to a close, Brídelle Cronin, Knocknakilla, Millstreet deserves heartfelt congratulations on her outstanding academic success during 2014 about which we recently learned. Brídelle scored 12 A’s in her Junior Certificate Examination 2014 – a truly magnificent achievement. Great credit is due to Brídelle and to her inspiringly dedicated Teachers at Millstreet Community School. We also recall the many great successes which the School experienced during 2014….And who could forget the absolutely brilliant “Donna Mia” musical so beautifully presented by the wonderfully talented Transition Year Students of Millstreet Community School. With his wife Peg they raised their children at Claramore before moving to Murphy’s Terrace
The quiet man with few words to say
And sad to think that he is with the departed
With the dead of Millstreet he forever lay.
There was so much to like about in Paddy Healy
I knew him before he grew old and gray
He drunk many a pint of frothy dark porter
Without being aggressive or loud in any way.
The aim of the bake sale was to help raise money for the six 5th year students from Millstreet Community School who will be going to Lourdes at Easter 2015 with IHCPT – The Irish Pilgrimage Trust as helpers. The students are Andrea Guerin, Amy McSweeney, Maire Ellen O’Connor, Lauren Buicke, Sean Guerin and Darren Kiely. The fare for their travel and accommodation will be about €650/person.
An amazing total of €900 was raised! Thank you!
The next fundraising event for the students will be a table quiz in the Wallis Arms on Friday 30th January 2015 at 8pm.
In Memory of the late Doireann O’Sullivan who was such a wonderfully supportive and dedicated Member of Millstreet Twinning Association we have just received a very special message from Yves Allain on behalf of the Twinning Association of our Twin Town, Pommerit le Vicomte. We firstly share the exact message as received in French and then we include our translation of the much appreciated message from our great Friends in Brittany:
