Monthly meeting of the Community Council to-night at the Wallis Arms Hotel starting at 8.30.

Our Parish Singing Group had the last session before Christmas on Thursday night last. A Supervisor from the VEC attended and she was visably impressed by the joyous atmosphere that prevailed under the leadership of musician, Marie Twomey.

All going well it will resume again in January 2013.

Our new E Centre was open to the public for a few hours  on Monday and a steady stream of people came to see .They included Students from our Community School and their Teachers. As well as many other interested people.

It is a state of the art facility, with many rooms to cater for various needs. A board room to hold up to 30 people.  It has 7 desks for renting, ready for those who would like to start up a new business. Or a person doing temporary work and would like to do it away from home.

Many courses will be held there as time goes and already some have been held by the Cork Enterprise Board. For full information give Jenifer O Connor a ring at 087 295 30 78.

A very high profile meeting was held at the GAA Hall last night. Organised

by IRD Duhallow ,it was attended by Anne Collins TD ,Councillor Noel Buckley,

Jack Roche also attended.as well as representatives of IRD.

There was a serious discussion about the future of Leader in light of

European money being given to the County Councils in future. A decision not

popular by the vast majority of those present. Similar meeting are being

held  around the County and should be well  supported..

The 45Drive in aid of our local Hospital was very well attended at the

Green Glens Arena on Saturday night, as was the Cullen’s annual Christmas Party

given by their Special Needs Association. All thanks to so many people who

give of their time year after year.

LTV2 is   returning to your screens, this Thursday at 10 with the repeat

on Sunday and we hope that many of you will be able to receive it. Meanwhile

LTVMacroom is on every Wednesday night at 9.30,and the repeat on Sundays

from 5.30pm.

Be at the pub in Carriginma on Sunday December 16th to see a tractor being

assembled in the Bar by Champions from Broomfield Club ,Coachford. And on

Sunday December 23rd Santa will arrive in the old style, by Horse & Car.

Every good wish to Denise Kelleher with the launch of her CD at the Glen

Theatre on Sunday December 16that 8.30. Music by the ever popular Kelt.

The 5th. Annual New Year’s Day plunge in the Blackwater at Dooneen takes

place  on January 1st 2013. Sponsorship Cards are available over a wide area , and

this time the proceeds will go the  Canon O Donovan Centre. Contact Margaret

If you’d like to sample something new and delicious for your Christmas

Dinner then contact our Millstreet Country Park where they are taking orders for

their own home-grown  Venison. The number there is 029 70810.

And please let me remind you that the Country Park is open free of charge

every day  at present. Teas & Coffees are available at the central building.

Shop at home  for this Christmas and keep our own people at work. Give

practical gifts of heating oil, Coal, woodblocks ,and warm clothing. They are all to

be had in our own town , and deliveries can be arranged. Other than that our

shops and stores are full of lovely gift ideas ,parking is free , and  lots of food

outlets where you can have anything from a cup of tea to a scrumptious meal.

 

And we have a wealth of  local new books at Wordsworth. The Bard, The

Aubane Centenery Book and CDs and lots more. Go and have a brouse and you will be

surprised what lovely gift ideas you’ll find.

 

Millstreet Gramaphone  Circle monthly meeting this Friday night

December14th,at the Canon O Donovan Centre starting at 8.15 .

A note from Breda at our Library.

On : Saturday December 15th, there will be Christmas stories, Christmas

crafts and a chance to write your own Christmas story.

From 11.00am to 12.00 noon.    All welcome!

Cork Simon Community would like to say a sincere word of thanks to all

those who supported their recent church gate collection   which was held in

Millstreet.

Our Twinning Group will have a gala Sing-a-long at McCarthys bar on this

Saturday night and all are welcome.

Our Parish Priest Canon John would like to say many thanks to all who

supported  the Church Restoration Fund in 2012 . and to say that envelopes for 2013 are going out this week.

 

A Multi Cultural Christmas Communities Event will be held at the GAA Hall

on Monday December 17th starting at 7.30pm all are welcome.

 

 

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in our  three churches every week. In

Millstreet  on Tuesday and Wednesdays from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm, In Cullen at

the same times and in Ballydaly on Fridays from 5 to 9. Confessions in

Millstreet every Saturday from 12.30 to 1pm

 

Our   Masses at Christmas will be said in Cullen at 8pm on Christmas Eve

and 10.15 on Christmas Day. In Millstreet the Vigil Mass will be at 10.30 and at 11,30 on Christmas Day.

Our  Munster Scor Sinsear Champions who won the Novelty Act . were guests

at a

celebratery function at the Kilmury Hotel Limerick on Friday night, given

by

Munster GAA Council . Jerry Doody was MC ,a task that he carried out with

his usual flair & panache. A great time was had by all.

Here are the results of this week’s parish Lotto Draw which was held at the Bush Bar on Sunday night, Numbers drawn were

 

8, 18, 28, 32 and the Jackpot was not won.

 

€100 went to Jerry Lehane he was the seller and got €50 sellers prize,
