Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this wet ‘n wintery Tuesday morning. December 8th ,the Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception.  A Holy Day of Obligation.

Here are the results of this weeks parish Lotto draw which was held at Corkery’s Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 13, 15, 23 , 27 . AND THE LUCKY WINNER OF €16,000 was Margaret Cooper, Cullen and her daughter Maura. The seller was ,first cousin, Margaret Burke and she got €1,600 sellers prize. Because the Jackpot was won there was no €50 prize, and €20 each went to the following ten people. On behalf of the Lotto Committee I want to Congratulate the Cooper Family on their fine win  and Margaret Burke on being the seller. Also to thank the general public for their wonderful support  these past weeks ‘n months when the Jackpot was going to dizzy heights.

Community Council Meeting to-night at the Wallis Arms Hotel at 8.30. And at ten o clock a presentation, on behalf of our Community,will be made  to Fr Gerard O Leary, who has been transferred to Killarney. By our Chairman Noel Buckley, and all are welcome.

Our Christmas Lights were switched on in our Town on Friday, December 4th and the torrential rain did nothing to deter the spirits of our Development group in carrying out their pleasant task, U12 musicians played traditional music on he reviewing stand for added atmosphere.

The next step in their plans to make Millstreet a great place to shop will be the setting up of a Marquee in the Square from December 17th to Christmas Eve, which will be open each afternoon for a Christmas Market with Festive music playing in the Town Square. Children from our local schools will hold Carol singing at the same area on December 18,19,20,  Santa will be at the Youth Centre on December 18th and 19th. It’s all to do with shopping at home. Please support your own town. Keep the jobs at home.

The pupils of our Boys National School will hold a Carol Service in the Church this Saturday evening for one half hour  starting at 6 pm .in the run-up to the Vigil Mass, which starts  at 6.30.

A pair of Spectacles were lost at the funeral at St Marys Cemetry on Monday afternoon. Please contact me if you found them.

The two fundraising concerts which were held at Drishane Castle at the weekend were an outstanding success. There was a star studded cast for each .all stewards and helpers were dressed in period attire, and in the castle setting they looked completely at home, serving food and drinks and seeing to everyone’s needs. One man,

of 73 years from Cork, who sang, was  winner the over sixties competion in Cork and he was accompanied by his sprightly Mother of 97 who launched her very own CD earlier this year. She danced with her son at the event.

All proceeds were in aid of the Baby Jacob fund and his parents expressed their overwhelming gratitude to all concerned. Look up the Website for a full report.

A note from the Parents and Friends of Cope in Dromtarriffe, thanking all those who supported their recent fast . They celebrate their 40th yr with Cope and at a special function ,on ,Wednesday December 16th night they will present the proceeds of their FAST to Mr John Clifford of Cope. Starts at 8.30 All Welcome.

St Vincent dePaul Church Door collectionwill be taken up , before all masses,this weekend.

Theres a  note on behalf of Corks Maureen O Sullivans Christmas Appeal ,which has been  on-going for over 30 yrs. They want non-perishable foods. Also toiletries

Warm scarves, gloves, jumpers ,etc. They can be handed into O Regans Mill in Millstreet or to Tinaat the Boherbue Eduction

Millstreet gained a rewarding outing to the Cork County Scor na nOg semi finals hosted in Millstreet last Saturday night. , Our instrumental music group and solo singing act enjoyed success.

GAA
Millstreet Juvenile GAA acknowledged an outstanding past year of achievement at a Victory function in the Wallis Arms Hotel on last Friday night. Cork GAA star Noel O’Leary and Duhallow Juvenile Board Secretary Steven Lynch joined along with players, parents and supporters in the excess of 200 strong attendance to celebrate their great successes with them. .

A note from Mark Neville on behalf of the newly formed, Millstreet Macra 5 a side Soccor team,  to say that they have won their way into the Nationals Fs by way of a win over Crookstown 9-2 on Sun. in the Muskerry  final.  National Fs will be played in Gormanstown on Jan 10th 2010.And we wish them the very best of good luck.
