Eily’s Report – 13th March

Dia is Mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to my weekly report.

Mothers Day was widely celebrated last weekend, with Dads and Kids taking over the reins in the kitchen, thus making herself a lady of leisure for the one day in the year that is singled out for all Mothers. Gift Shops, hotels and restaurants did a roaring trade and as a rising tide raises all craft, everybody was a winner.

Last night Monday March 12 marked to closing of another Weigh-In in Cullen following their annual eight weeks stint, by the Cullen Special Needs Association.

€5,500 was collected on the night with more to come in the weeks ahead. 450 pounds weight lost. Many congratulations to this hardworking group on another successful venture.

Their annual Threshing Day will be held later in the year.

St. Patrick’s Day is looming  fast, and Parades in honour of our Patron Saint are being held all over the World. Not all on March 17th but at times that best suit the people in the different places. The people of Rathmore held their St. Patricks Day Parade last Sunday, March10th, and were fortunate to get brilliant sunshine for the event. Here in Millstreet ,we celebrate ours on March 17th, while the tiny Village of Carriganima have theirs on the next day March 18th.

 

Please be reminded that the last meeting by the organisers of our St.Patricks Day Parade will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel tonight starting at 8.30. All interested bodies please attend.

The Parade will be held on Saturday March 17th Starting from the Green Glens Car Park Station Rd. (By Kind Permission of the Duggan family). Those taking part are asked to line up in good time so as to ensure a prompt start. Shops and stores etc. are asked to decorate their places and show off our town in the best possible light.

Please take note that, in order to facilitate the Parade, the Vigil Mass on Saturday night will be at 7.30.

Here are the results of this weeks lotto Draw which was held at the MalPasso Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 8,14,16,27 and the Jackpot was not won.

€100 went to Baby Aiden Lynam, Main St, the seller was Tom Carroll,and he got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Daniel and Sheila Carroll c/o Tom Carroll, €20 each to Tommy Tucker, Ballydaly, Medulla Oblomeatu, c/o The Mal Passo. Mary Barrett, Carrigacooleen, Bina OMahony, Knocknagree, Tom Carroll, Drishane View. Eugene O Callaghan, Drishane View and Mary Desmond, St Joseph’s Gardens.

Jackpot for next week €3,200 the draw at McCarthys Bar on Bank Holiday Monday night.

 

The annual Daffodil Day Collection will be held in the town on March 23rd,and a Coffee morning will be held also from 9,30 to 12,30 at the GAA Hall,on the same day. Please support them well.

Eucharistic Adoration will be held in our Blessed Sacrament Chapel, in Millstreet every Tueday and Wednesday from 10,30 am to 10,30 pm and in Cullen on Thursdays from 10am.

Legion of Mary meeting every Tuesday night at our Parish Centre at 8.
