Eily’s Weekly Update

The annual Pony Show was held at the Green Glens for three days at the weekend and as many as four thousand entries took part, with in excess of a thousand ponies performing each day.  Competitions were held both in out of doors with as many as six arenas going at any one time.

Events at the Green Glens are very important to the life of Millstreet, with many services doing extra business as a result. There is always much demand for accommodation and with the future looking bright, and busy ,more people may decide to let a room or two. The office at the Green Glens (029 70800) is always glad to get more names to add to their list.

Next year the World-Class, Green Glens/Drishane Complex is in line for world class events. So keep an eye out.

The next event is the annual Self-Build Exhibition which will be held at the Green Glens on the weekend of November 8th.

Pictures on our Web show the progress on the Bridge over the Blackwater at Dooneen advancing well.

The main organiser of the Bearra/Brefni Way  from Castletownbere wants it made known that the input of our own local TD Aine Collins played a big part in securing the funding for the project. Just to give merit where merit is due.

The change of time over the weekend and the rain brought the dark evenings in with a bang. Road users are advised to be extra vigellent as the sudden change sinks in, especially around schools, school buses, farm  or other business entrences, etc.

And with the arrival of the long evenings it is important to find ways to pass the time in the most enjoyable way possible. There is a host of ways to help. So be on the look out for the event that you like best. Thursday night singing with Marie. Knitting on Tuesday nights , Men’s Shed on Tuesdays. The Community Gym. The Loft.  The Active retired Group with their many outings and lovely things to do. Or on fine days a walk in the park and avail of the many exercise machines along the way.  Every day at the Day Centre there are beautiful dinners at little cost for non-members  The list goes on, above all nobody must feel alone.

If anybody out there has a class or hobby etc.at  to get out there please give me a call at 086 3163285.
