Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely calm, slightly foggy Tuesday morning.

Clara mountain was again the focus of attention at the weekend when theMunster Hill running Championships were held there on Sunday evening,in brilliant weather.

And a very successful Feile Ceoil was held at the Community School on Sunday.

Many congratulations to the wonderful Linehan Family on qualifying for  the  All Ireland finals of the popular Feis ‘n Blood competition on Tg4 on Sunday night.

The pupils of our Community School would like to thank all those who helped them to raise €3,970.00 to send students, Lisa O Callaghan, Adam Buicke, Alison Buicke, and Susie Guerin as helpers to Lourdes at Easter. This money will cover their costs as well as giving a donation to the IHCPT organisation.

Monster table Quiz in Aubane on this Good Friday night, starting at 8.30.

Their fun for all day will be on June 26th

Monster Vintage & Family Day at the Green Glens on Easter Sunday. Proceeds to the local Hospital and the Canon O Donovan Centre  A great day out is assured.

And on May Bank Holiday weekend we will have the Monster MAC. At the Country Park.

This is Holy week and the members of our clergy have a program fitting for to time that’s in it, all made out for us. The annual Chrism Mass will be held at the Cathedral in Killarney this evening at 7.30.

On  Holy Thursday, Mass of the Last Supper, start in Millstreet  and Cullen at 8, Alter of repose until midnight.

Good Friday devotions of the Lord’s Passion begin in all three churches  at 3pm.

And on Holy Saturday there will be a Polish Mass at 1.30 pm with the blessing of bread, and at 9 that night we will have the Easter Vigil, in Millstreet only.

Confessions at various times such as after masses and on Saturday from 12.30 to 1.

The Annual Commemoration takes place after the 11.30 Mass on Easter Sunday. The Parade will be led through the Town by the Pipe band to the monument in the Square where the oration will be delivered by Tony Lane, Kinsale. Please give this annual parade your best support as a mark of respect for those who are remembered there.

And talking of respect, our hardworking Tidy Towns committee are working round the clock to keep Millstreet and its approach roads clean and tidy ,please show some respect for their efforts by not only, refraining from throwing litter around, but to give practical help to those involved.

The May Day Mass will be held at the Shrone Holy Well again this year, on Sunday, May 1st.And the  14 mile walk  from Ballyvourney will take off from Sean Cronin’s in Clohina at 7.30 and from the Mills at 10  to arrive in  Shrone on good time for the 2pm Mass.

Bingo in Banteer to-night €7,750 up for grabs.

The Annual Divine Mercy Devotions will be held in our Church on Sunday May1st at 3pm. Preceded by confessions at 2.30.

Banteer Drama Group will present their hilarious Comedy, “Say Cheese” this weekend on Easter Sunday night and again on Easter Monday night. To book you ticket or for other details ring 029 56239.

The second last program of LTV2 was screened at the Pub in Carriginma this week, don’t miss it. Thursday night at 10 and a feast of Local TV on Sunday starting at 5pm.

Dawn Chorus

 

A Dawn Chorus experience has been organised for Saturday, 7th May at 5.00 a.m.  The assembly point is Ballygiblin Quarry (opposite Ballyhass Lakes entrance).  You will be escorted on a 3.5 mile walk through woodland to observe nature, listen to the chorus of birds, breathe the fresh morning air and touch the dew droplets on the vegetation on your meandering journey. Fundraising Cake sale in our town Square this Saturday Apr 23rd in aid of Comber, the organisation who strive for better conditions in orphanages in Romania.. Student Sarah Meaney is going with a group on June 25th to pursue this great work.

Following the recent AGM of our Turf Co-Op the tuft cutting at Gneeves bog is well underway, with orders well up on former years.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at the Clara Inn on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 1, 25, 26, 30 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Mary Cotter, Mill View, the seller was Johnnie O Keeffe and he got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Kevin O Connor, c/o Colemans, €20 each to Margaret Duggan, Mulnahorna, Alanna Barry, Station Rd. Breeda Creedon, Aubane,  Dave Conlon, Kilcorney, Martin Cleary, Clara Rd. Nuala Lawlor, Drishane Rd.
