Millstreet Celtic 4 Banteer 0

By Tim Kiely: We beat Banteer 4-0 at home this morning to keep our push for the league title on track. We came out of the blocks well and had an early chance when Barry Lawlor volleyed off the post. The rebound fell to Michael Murphy but his shot was smothered by the keeper. After 10 mins we took the lead. Eamon O Keeffe’s cross found Murphy at the back post and he made no mistake with the finish. 10 mins later Lawlor picked up the ball on the wing after a corner had been cleared and his cross made it all the way to the back of the net to make it 2-0. We kept the pressure on and got the 3rd 5 mins before half time. Paul Dawson swung in a corner from the right and Mick Collins got across his man to flick a header to the net. Banteer improved a bit in the 2nd half but we were still creating most of the chances and in the 65th min Collins was brought down in the box for a penalty. Tim Kiely’s penalty came back off the post and fell to Paul Dawson who was immediately tripped and awarded another penalty. Kiely mad no mistake with this one to make it 4-0. John Cullinane forced a good save from the keeper shortly after and Lawlor went close with a free kick but it finished 4-0. Best for us on the day were Danny O Riordan, Michael Murphy and Mick Collins.

  1. Brilliant result. That’ll have brought Banteer down to earth with a bang! Great to see Danny is getting a run in the team.

  2. Third person narrative, Tim? Giving your omniscient view!
Always good to see ye winning against Banteer though!
