Fondest Greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this rather Wintery but calm Tuesday morning.

The stage is set at the Green Glens for the annual Machinery show which will run this week on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd. Exhibits come from all parts of the country every year and it can be all seen in the comfort of the Green Glens Arena, all under one roof. It’s open from 12 noon to 10pm each day.

At the recent monthly meeting of the Community Council it was revealed that lots of people, both from at home and abroad, are looking for a return of our beloved parish magazine Clara News which closed in 2013 after almost 40 years. The chairman of the Community Council is asking all those who would be interested in its revival to attend the next meeting of the Community Council which will be in February.

At the same meeting Mairead’s report on the Astro Turf was very positive
and it’s enjoying great support. The contact number for bookings  087 336 16 66.

However it isn’t fully paid for yet and various fundraising efforts were discussed. And a decision will be made at the February meeting.

The Community Council would like to say many thanks to all those who supported their recent church Gate collection.

Defibrillators for public use are placed at two locations in the town. One at the door of the Garda Barracks and the other at the door of the Youth Centre.

And please be reminded that the Youth centre is available for many functions such as children’s parties and so on.

Great praise and many thanks was allotted to Jim Sheehan who had the beautiful solar lighting system completed, at the Grotto on the Macroom Rd. in time for Christmas, and has shined brightly every night since.

Table Quiz at the Wallis Arms Hotel on January 31st to raise funds for 5th year students who are going as helpers to Lourdes at  Easter with IHCPT.

The Marian Players In Rathmore are all set for curtains up on their popular annual pantomime, Robinson Crusoe. They open  this Saturday night January 25th, again.

A fundraising dance in aid of Cystic Fibrosis will be held at the Riverside Hotel in Macroom on Saturday February 1st. Music by Michael Collins starts 9.30.

At the AGM of our Develpoment Group, the hardworking committee were re elected in Block and they have a busy year ahead with the many events that are already listed, and more to follow.

The Intergenerational project Living Scenes has resumed at the Community school. Active retired people who would like to take part please ring the School at 02970087.

A notice from the Millstreet Athlectic Club to say that new members over 18 are welcome. They resume with training on Wednesday January 29th at 7pm and on Sunday mornings at 9.45 in the Town Park. Contact 087 2617001.

The Boeing swim which has been deferred so many times due to flooding will be held, rain or shine on Saturday January 25th at 12.30 sharp. Proceeds to Cork Mental Health.

The Glen Theatre will stage a Gala Concert By Donal Clancy,son of the famous Liam on Saturday night January 25th at 8.30 .Contact number 029-56239.

Well done to all at our beautiful Country Park on their fine presentation on RTE on Sunday night and we wish all concerned every success for the future.

And well done to LTV both 1 &  2 on the fine variety of entertainment that  they sent out last week.

Millstreet Community singers meet every Thursday night at the Parish centre, and all are welcome.

The Fundraising Weigh-In continues in Cullen every Monday night. aerobics and music every time.  Eighty people attended last night.  Proceeds their Special Needs Association.

The Duhallow senior Scór finals take place in Kilbrin Social Club on this Saturday night commencing at 8.30pm.

Our Weekly Lotto Draw was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night, Numbers drawn were 11, 20, 22, 31 and the Jackpot was not won.
Jackpot for next week €7,200 the draw at Tarrant’s Bar on Sunday night.
